your right. It is something mainly geared to the rcx gear heads. I'm sure Calum
would LOVE IT. we all know how he HATES power cords. (grin)

wait.... please explain. are you saying i will need to D/L the BrickOS
firmware??
OK. so far so good. I did that ages ago.
but then you say this:

is it as easy as opening up file xyz in notepad, and changing bit 3 to x??? or
presumably you have already modified the kernal, and have that new file saved as
BOS-V1.0.frm (or whatever)
in which case, im wondering if you could just make that available with the
proper credits (and permissions) of course.

There are two places you could have downloaded the BrickOS stuff from. 1) The NQC site, which has everything (like the kernal) pre-built. 2) The BrickOS site, where YOU need to build everything. If you did #1, it may be hard for you to rebuild (...) (19 years ago, 8-Sep-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)
