I too am undecided about this one. I REALLY liked the openness of it and found
the rope barriers on the other layouts intimidating. But I think it depends on
the venue. There were only a hand full of annoying brats (and adults) that were a
bother. We just had to be watchful. Even the side table where we had models that
some kids touched didn't get abused. I was very impressed. But at this event most
parents were mindful. At a mall it could be a totally different story. A nice 5
inch bolt on plexi would probably be nice. A train catcher too.

Yes, I found that my electronics really ate up my time with planning and
building. More then I thought.

Oh yes. We need AT LEAST two main lines on two controllers and the storage yard
would be good on a third. This would allow shunting and preparing and then drive
them out onto one of the main lines.
Isolating the three or so zones is a must. I was going to do that for the layout
but figured since it was so limited it really didn't matter...

He's like Barney, instantly recognizable. A sad must I'm afraid...

I don't know, what, 7 feet? Grin
All and all, not all of our shows will be train shows. I think trains should
always be present unless it's a themed event or display. (I can picture
incredible medieval scenes)
Train shows should be heavy trains with supporting soundings. Multi levels
etc...

| (...) I have mixed feelings about this one... One thing that set our display apart from others (apart from the fact that our display was 100% ABS plastic!) was that we *didn't* have a barrier. This allowed the public to get very close & personal (...) (24 years ago, 14-Nov-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)
