You guys are funny.

You often talk about setting up the rules as vague as possible, to allow many
different strategies.  However, when the strategies don't conform to the
predetermined list of valid strategies, they're called "loopholes", so you can
complain about them.

Personally, I don't think either option is "bad".  If you add the "Pull flag past
the line" rule, it makes the challenge more about building a brute-force LEGO robot.

If the rules stay as posted, there are many other "strategy" options, so it's less
about building, and more about designing a robot that can win against more than one
strategy.

But, to encourage different strategies, and then call them loopholes is just
contradictory.

(...) That's why I'm not in favour of adding this third rule, and I haven't called it a loophole. I don't agree with Chris on this. At the same time, there are many strategies which we'd call cheap approaches, stuff that's not within the spirit of a (...) (18 years ago, 2-Jun-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
