While you have valid ideas, Im not sure what your "motive" is behind
this rule addition. I dont see any advantage to forcing us to watch the
game for the full 3 min, if one robot is clearly winning.

Wait a minute, I'm not the one adding a rule after the rule page as been
up for months.  What's your motive. :-)

Well, I'm not completely adamant about the 'flag crosing the 18 inch line for a
win', but if a 'bot gets the flag to the 18 inch mark, the chances are the other
'bot is in the pit anyway.

UNLESS, the other bot plays out the rope.

Again, the issue is--are we running as close to possible 'true' tug o' war match
but with 'bots, or are we running a pseudo tug o' war where we can basically do
whatever we want with the rules.

I'm good either way.

I am fine either way as well.  I have ideas, and counter ideas for most
known ploys.

When the idea was first pointed out, I saw this new rule addition turing
the game from "loop holes" to a game just about brute-force-pulling.

But like  you I can work either way, I would just like to hear from
others and see what they think.

I still haven't built a bot, as my son and his friend have my RCX tied up.... but it has made me think about: 1) battery box solution 2) pull back motor(s) solution 3) pie mmmmmm pie. I like pie. (...) You guys are funny. You often talk about setting up the rules as vague as possible, to allow many different strategies. However, when the strategies don't conform to the predetermined list of valid strategies, they're called "loopholes", so (...) (18 years ago, 2-Jun-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
