  Re: Cleaning Dell Laptop Keyboards

(...) If you haven't created a login at support.dell.com you will need to in order to use this link, but this takes you to a section specifically on removing parts from the 8100 and has instructions for removing the keyboard assembly. (URL) (22 years ago, 26-Apr-03, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Cleaning Dell Laptop Keyboards

Does anyone out there have a Dell Inspiron 8100 laptop? I do, and I'm wondering how the best way to remove the keys to clean the keyboard is. I'm not experiencing any problems with the keyboard, but I've had it for about a year and a half now and (...) (22 years ago, 26-Apr-03, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Free PHP and MySQL hosting

(...) I couldn't say. Try searching on Google. Sites that just do free hosting are awkward enough with the ads. I couldn't name one that has PHP off the top of my head. (...) Try just typing its IP address into another browser. If you own a domain (...) (22 years ago, 25-Apr-03, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Technotonta desperately seeks help from tech savvy geeks...

(...) Thank you Richard, I don't know why I didn't just email you directly to begin with instead of broadcasting here how clueless about computers I am (I mean *you* already knew that!). :-) (22 years ago, 22-Apr-03, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Technotonta desperately seeks help from tech savvy geeks...

(...) Is it the case that you used the "system restore" utility in WinXP? That should probably have worked. I'm not sure what Netscape may have done to your system but I think one possibility is a java runtime thing. That might answer the question (...) (22 years ago, 21-Apr-03, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Technotonta desperately seeks help from tech savvy geeks...

Last night I thought I would upgrade my browser (NS4.7), so I downloaded the latest version (7.02) even though it took about three hours with my slow connection. When it was done, I noticed my computer had slowed down considerably. I actually (...) (22 years ago, 21-Apr-03, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Free PHP and MySQL hosting

(...) But just for testing, what would be a good choice? (...) I have and can, but what will that take? It is just for testing purposes, so I can decide wether or not to leave it running. What I have now, is locally Apache, PHP4 and MySQL running on (...) (22 years ago, 16-Apr-03, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Equation of a sphere?

(...) A quick search reveals: (URL) reveals that: (x - A)^2 + (y - B)^2 + (z - C)^2 = R Where A,B,C = the x,y,z coordinates that the circle is centered around, and R is the radius you're looking for. Theoretically (tho I haven't tried), you could (...) (22 years ago, 15-Apr-03, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Equation of a sphere?

Quite a while back I asked for help in computing the equation of a circle from three known points, and I received very useful (and ultimately successful) assistance from several people. In addition, my searches led me to a piece of software that (...) (22 years ago, 15-Apr-03, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Free PHP and MySQL hosting

(...) Do your own. Seriously, it doesn't exist. You might (if you look hard enough) find a site that claims to, but you'll be lucky if you can see any of your own site through all the ads. Other than that, you'll have to pay. Rates are pretty low (...) (22 years ago, 14-Apr-03, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Free PHP and MySQL hosting

Hi all, What would be the best solution for free PHP and MySQL hosting? Tnx. Jaco (22 years ago, 11-Apr-03, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Retina scanner?

(...) Indeed, the situation lens itself to goofy humours. Maybe the media thought that the pun was cornea than they could handle, and they were afraid to sclera 'way their readership, or perhaps that some reader might have retinal letter to the (...)   Re: Retina scanner?

(...) That's more like it. Though I'm not sure about the "most mathematically unique biometric" bit. If it's so amazing, and it's obviously easy to capture the image, why isn't it more widely used? I remember reading about a UK school that (...) (22 years ago, 8-Apr-03, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Retina scanner?

(...) Well, call it an 'eyeball scanner' or something. I suppose I could equally come down on someone who's made a hotdog stand that doesn't really cook hotdogs, or a minifig Outside Broadcast Unit that doesn't really take live video (oh wait a (...)   Re: Retina scanner?

Okay, you made a point. It should be called "cornea photographer" or something like that. Robert Seifert (but still, isn't it good approximation? I mean it's still lego, you cannot expect something such sophisticated as retina scanner. That was what (...) (22 years ago, 6-Apr-03, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Retina scanner?

(...) You can call it nitpicking if you ignore the implications, but it's like saying you've built a fingerprint scanner when what you're actually doing is photographing the _back_ of someone's hand. From a few basic measurements of the image, you (...) (22 years ago, 2-Apr-03, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Retina scanner?

(...) You're right! But, in fact, who cares? I mean, it's kind of nitpicking. In my opinion it's more important if it works or not. Okay, now when I think about it, does it work? Isn't cornea every time little bit different due different light (...) (22 years ago, 2-Apr-03, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)
