(...) America. and that they're so bloody small. what i'd love is a portable .mp3 player that reads cd's. ~600MB of .mp3 files will give me *hours* of continuous music at a reasonable (for me) quality. -Steven[1] [1]who's got somewhere around 4GB[2] (...) Kevin, (...) Hmm... I am not an audio junkie, so if you say so, alright! (...) Yikes! (...) My roommate has a Sharp, I have bought two Sony (MZ-R55 and the player only, my fiancée has it now) and I have the MD player in my Suburban and her Shadow. I (...)   Re: Ripping Vinyl to Digital

(...) Keep in mind thought that MD's use ATRAC compression, which is a bit lossy. Most people won't notice any serious difference with most music, but some diehard audiophiles (the kind who'll spend $2K on an amplifier kit using vacuum tubes) have a (...)   Re: Ripping Vinyl to Digital

Steve, I have not looked too close, but you can get that CD duplicator that is a stand alone unit. It might have a line-in on it. I have been using a Minidisc system from Sony. It is a really sweet system, and I can put anything on it, from Digital (...) (25 years ago, 3-Feb-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) I've been using Adaptec's Easy CD Creator (basic version came with my Yamaha burner, and I upgraded to Deluxe V3.5), and it seems to be able to handle noise rather well, considering how simple the interface is.   Ripping Vinyl to Digital

Has anyone transferred their LP's to MP3 or CD audio? I'm just getting started, and I'd appreciate any hints, tips or warnings! What I've done so far: I've patched the tape-out on my amplifier to the line-in on my sound card. Since I'm running Win98 (...) (25 years ago, 3-Feb-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Is it possible to run Win98 and WinNT on the same machine?

(...) Yes and no. I get plenty of data, not much of it useful. Anyway, that's a machine of the past. Reformatting resolves many problems (and causes many others). Steve (25 years ago, 3-Feb-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Hmm. I'm running 2.2.12, mount says that ntfs isn't supported. (...) You mean you don't get more data than you know what to do with when you go to Administrative Tools and run Event Viewer? I usually get enough data to figure out what's going on at least. Fixing it may be another problem. (25 years ago, 2-Feb-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  NTFS driver for Linux?

Anyone found/seen a good driver that'll allow my dual-boot Linux system to access the NTFS volume? Read-only's ok, though of course I'd prefer r/w.
