When did he last release a film that wasn't dreadful? Certainly not Revenge, >or
A Perfect World, or The Postman,

Hey now.

The Postman wasn't *dreadful*. It could have been a LOT better, mind you, as
anyone who read the book would attest, but it wasn't as bad a mangle of a
good book as Starship Troopers was. Some plot elements were actually
recognisable. AND... the nudity wasn't gratuitous, it advanced the plot.
Sort of.

I like the Postman, although it is quite different from the book and an
awful load of parts are omitted. Actually I generally like the plots
like "hey people, lets unite and save the world" kind. Do you remember
the old TV series Visitors (I think its original name is "V")? Actually
it gone out of control after the first several episodes but these first
few episodes are quite good.

Erm, I think I just damned it with faint praise. :-)

or Waterworld, or Tin Cup, or For the love of
the Game, or Robin Hood, or The Bodyguard, or 3000 Miles to Graceland, or JFK
(which wasn't especially foul--just an Oliver Stone agenda film).

Although there are very harsh criticism about Waterworld, I quite like
it, too. Of course there are stupidities around and one of which is the
main idea (what they have been thinking when they were filming the scene
in which Costner and the women dive to see the city under water?) but I
generally prefer to separate science and science fiction when watching
sf movies...:-)

JFK was the worst of your entire list. Its ONLY redeeming feature is the
vast cast, including Kevin Bacon, which is key for quick linking when you
are playing Back to Bacon. Other than that, it's dreck. Like all Stone
works, IMHO, although YMMV.

Platoon and Salvador were quite good IMHO.
