So put your facetious 'black helicopter' and Elvis sighting comments on a
shelf and deal with the reality of the situation--Dubya's premise was
flawed, and events *may* have been "Hollywood"-ed up a bit--Dubya's landing
on the aircraft carrier?  At best it was a waste of taxpayers money to make
a flashy entrance--at worst, it was a waste of taxpayers money to make a
flashy entrance that may help Dubya get re-elected.

This criticism still amazes me, although it wasn't unexpected. Presidents,
and other political leaders have been misusing taxpayer money on these kinds
of things for years. If Bush was simply looking for a photo-op he would have
done this in the prime time, not at 3pm. The only reason this has been on TV
so many times (frankly I am getting tired of seeing it) is due to Democrat
criticism.

This isn't some sort of "We have to go looking for conspiracies under a rock
in the arctic circle" scenario--it's right out there, in black and white.

I remember Jessica's recue--"She had bullet wounds, knife stabs, and was in
terrible shape!" for a few days after the rescue.  Then the real truth
started coming out--well, no she didn't have all these things.

Cowtowing to the 'party line' is equally as reprehensible as going to the
conspiracy fringe.  I'm trying to discern the actual Truth, Scott.  What are
you doing?

I will admitt that being a relative new comer to OTD I am unaware if your
criticisms are merely anti-Republican posts, or if you are an equal
opportunity critic. I hope you felt the same way, or worse about several of
the military actions taken by Clinton. I like to take a measured approach to
news. I am rarely suprised when a news organization comes out and says, well
we were wrong at first, here is the truth, but I usually chock it up to
overzealous reporting rather than outright fabrication.

I too am always looking at the truth, and am very willing to criticize this
administration, but I am not willing to hitch my wagon to the latest
conspiracy theory, especially one printed in a UK newspaper.

Scott C.
