Ok, why such anti-American sentiment? (Was Re: the metric system)

(...) First, regarding the metric system, use whatever pleases you. Personally, I don't care. I like the old system, simply because i grew up with it, and i therefore find it more (personally) natural to think in terms of feet and inches than meters (...)   Re: A Lego display fund raiser

I apologize to you and you still accuse me of things. The only confusion I have is you. Do you think the club is a business or a club? I’m not in the club to make money; I’m not in the club to support a certain group. I’m in the club to have fun. (...) (23 years ago, 1-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: the metric system

(...) Really? Cool! Maybe the Euro will be NGL 2.20 one day, and not NGL 2.203. ;) I know, immaterial, given that the Guilder shall cease to exist on 1 March 2002.   Re: A question of remembrance...

(...) Then what are you willing to acknowledge, beyond what we've seen here? There's no reason in this long .debate to think that Larry's wrong on that score. (...) The past should be absolutely crucial in considering "the real world." The problem (...) (23 years ago, 1-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: the metric system

.... (...) I recently had to do somethin involving metirc conversion and was told that at some point the inch was redefind by the international standards people to be exactly 2.54 cm. (...) .... I thought that the meter was defined in terms of the (...) (23 years ago, 1-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: A question of remembrance...

(...) Heh. It may be sobering to point out that the "brand" of UK was born in 1800, following the forced Act of Union with Ireland. That's when the name becomes valid, and it starts a new era of incredible colonial bloodshed. But I'm not sure all of (...) (23 years ago, 1-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: the metric system

(...) You know, I was going to comment on that, then I saw that you already had. (The part about Tim championing science, that is.) I almost fell out of my chair when I read that! :) I was half prepared to read "cubits." Or are we just being evil, (...) (23 years ago, 1-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: A Lego display fund raiser

Much snippage. (...) Note the "as it were" here. This is a figure of speech, I don't believe MICHLUG or MICHLTC actually *has* a banner. (...) There is no "banner". It was figurative. However, if there were, it would not be Chris's decision to make, (...) (23 years ago, 1-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: A question of remembrance...

(...) Scott: I would turn the question around and ask how you would propose to achieve peace with the state sponsors of terrorism, when those same states have demonstrated irrefutably that they accept the destruction of innocent life as a valid (...)   Re: A Lego display fund raiser

(...) I’m sorry James that I said thing that should not of been said. As you can see I apologized to Larry about my comments. I’m also apologizing to you for offending you. Like I told Larry we all have our own opinion why we do things. I hope our (...) (23 years ago, 1-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: A Lego display fund raiser

(...) I’m sorry Larry for replying to your e-mail in the manner that I did. I didn’t have too good of a day yesterday. I said some thing I should not of said. We all have our own opinions about things. And your right, it’s nice that club members can (...) (23 years ago, 1-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: A question of remembrance...

(...) That is your opinion. (...) Yes. (...) If Turkey's legislation is not in line with the EU, Joe could take Turkey to court. Read the papers, it happens to EU members when they do not implement legislation. (...) Banning the use use by UK forces (...) (23 years ago, 1-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: A question of remembrance...

(...) Don't need to read it I already know it. So, could you please reread my post and several other previous ones? I ALREADY said that Turkey is not wanted. I already said that I BELIEVE PUTTING TURKEY IN IS NOT GOOD FOR ANY EUROPEAN COUNTRY RIGHT (...) (23 years ago, 3-Aug-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: A question of remembrance...

  Re: A question of remembrance...

(...) Then perhaps it is you who does not understand the difference (...) Turkey would have to bring its legislation in line with the EU. I read a poll yesterday in the Guardian which said Turkey was the nation which was least likely to join. (...) (23 years ago, 1-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Christian Missionaries victims of the US drug war?

From an LP party "polemic"... (Steve Dasbach is US LP chair) - begin cite Over the past week, politicians have been pointing fingers about who is to blame for the incident in South America last Friday, in which the Peruvian air force shot down a (...)   Re: A question of remembrance...

(...) Where the fault is split 60-40 I think you're right. But what if the fault is almost all on one side? (it's not 60-40 in this case but it's not 99-1 either, so this is a hypothetical, I want to know what you think) What then? I come from the (...)   Re: A Lego display fund raiser

James responded quite nicely and set FUT .debate. I'm not sure that was appropriate since it means we won't hear from Scott, since he doesn't post to .debate (his loss, I guess) but I followed suit. Tony, I think the club members had come to quite a (...) (23 years ago, 30-Apr-01, to lugnet.org.us.michlug, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: A question of remembrance...

(...) I still didn't get this impression, though. (...) So, seeing that you tend to prefer simple two-three word answers instead of making a point, could you able to explain two simple questions as How and Why? Especially, when and if EU politicians (...)   Re: A Lego display fund raiser

(...) No, not enough said. I've moved it over to .debate, follow if you want to. No, by being present, you _are_ endorsing one religion. As a _club_ member (admittedly not your club), would you then want to support my cause? Reasonablly, I doubt you (...) (23 years ago, 30-Apr-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
