  Re: Durned Telemarketers!

(...) By charging *only* $100,000 a minute? Good luck;-) -John (22 years ago, 26-Aug-02, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: A NEW CASTLE Wishlist

(...) There are two types of MB castle swords. If you go to my parts wanted page, you will find what I am calling "Mega Bloks Sword 1" and "Mega Bloks Sword 2" [note: those are just scans, not properly scaled or sized in relation to one another] -- (...)   Re: Durned Telemarketers!

I prefer the Marquis de Sade technique. Require all telemarketeers be hooked up to an electro-shock machine. Push the star * button on your phone when they call you (always at dinner time). The number of times the telemarketeer has called you (...) (22 years ago, 26-Aug-02, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Durned Telemarketers!

(...) [snip] (...) Sweet! But then shouldn't you remove yourself from no-calls-please thing? Actually, it would be kind of cool to hear the legal reasons why this won't really work. Chris (22 years ago, 26-Aug-02, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Durned Telemarketers!

(...) If this works--sign me up. The next telemarketer is going to get a close rendition of this from me. But is it legal? I mean tow away zones are there 'by law', me saying that the telemarketer's co. is subject to whatever $/min is just me saying (...) (22 years ago, 26-Aug-02, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Durned Telemarketers!

Like everyone else in the electrically-civilized world, I am plagued by a nightly torrent of telemarketers plying their various wares. We've signed up at a state-run no-calls-please website set up here in Pennsylvania to block calls through some (...) (22 years ago, 26-Aug-02, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: I received a virus email today...

(...) I get dozens every week -- see (URL). (This last seven-day period was especially bad.) I'm pretty sure it's getting my e-mail address out of the Readme file for IceBreaker, because it often uses subject lines that are clearly snippets from (...)   Re: I received a virus email today...

(...) I get a few of these a week. All e-mail addresses, including mine, originate from the Super Chief registry page. -Rob. (22 years ago, 26-Aug-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: I received a virus email today...

(...) I get copies of Klez regularly, not from LEGO people. They're sent in emails with snippets of HTML code as the subject. For example, a subject 'cellpadding' or 'marginheight.' Just checked Norton today and I have 70 copies of Klez (...) (22 years ago, 26-Aug-02, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Groan of the week #21

(...) Yikes! You missed the most disturbing one for this crowd, Rosco - according to this logic, builders get deconstructed! ;p thanks, James (22 years ago, 26-Aug-02, to lugnet.off-topic.pun)

  Groan of the week #21

If lawyers are disbarred and clergymen defrocked, doesn't it follow that electricians should be delighted, musicians denoted, cowboys deranged, models deposed, tree surgeons debarked, and dry cleaners depressed? (22 years ago, 26-Aug-02, to lugnet.off-topic.pun)

Re: Death of the Old Guard

True I think the 'old guard' is gone. I was a lurker for past few years. I didn't have a digital camera or the desire to share my creations with the world. It was a hobby or time killer for me, building castles and whatnot. Now I think I have some (...) (22 years ago, 25-Aug-02, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Re: Dead men tell no tales!

(...) I heartily agree. A big turn-off for me (and the reason I voted against the BFF in the Legends vote) for any castle set is the inclusion of too many panel walls. I almost never use them. They make for less flexible building styles, and IMO (...) (22 years ago, 25-Aug-02, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Re: Death of the Old Guard

(...) I just wanted to add a big "me too" to this. Using pieces purely from the old Castle theme, any town would be populated by only about 6 or so civilian torso types (the gray/blue peasant, the old blacksmith, the woman with the neclace, the (...) (...) And Bruce is certainly old guard in gaming... I was perusing my CDROM of Dragon Magazine recently, and noticed Bruce's name in a listing of GMs in The Strategic Review (the Dragon's predecessor). Frank (22 years ago, 25-Aug-02, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Re: Dead men tell no tales!

(...) In my blessed opinion, Harry Potter and Star Wars have been the best thing for LEGO Castle accessory set development since the invention of the mini figure. Why? I get lots of nice parts in new designs and colors that stimulate my creativity. (...) (22 years ago, 25-Aug-02, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Re: Keyboard trouble!

(...) Two reasons: 1: if the spilled substance gets down to the circuit sheet, it's toast. Easiest way to tell this is if some keys do not work. 2: Cleaning a keyboard with stuck keys takes too long. An hour of my billable time is worth more than a (...) (22 years ago, 25-Aug-02, to lugnet.people, lugnet.off-topic.geek)
