BTW, one thing which hasn't been brought up yet (that I've seen) is the
labels for the newsgroups...
lugnet.market.auction -> implies auctions
lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade -> implies buying, selling, trading,
negotiating, bartering, etc.
The names are actually flawed -- they're good on average, but not perfect.
What they're supposed to (as in the original intent) mean is...
lugnet.market.auction -> icky blood-sucking drawn-out make-people-compete-
against-one-another-for-the-highest-price
types of sales
lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade -> happy fun friendly easy discussion-
negotiating types of transactions
And that's because of the brain-bandwidth differences between the two and
also because some people absolutely hate the idea of an auction (they feel
it's evil or immoral).

But disagree about being wrong about the essence of a "sealed bid auction" and what it really is or is not. (...) (25 years ago, 3-Dec-99, to lugnet.market.theory)
