    Feedback solicitation —Larry Pieniazek
Here's a theory question for you. Is it wrong to solicit eBay feedback? Is it uncouth? I want, for purely selfish reasons, as well as for reasons to do with the whole Quixote thing, to see my feedback a bit higher than it currently is. I've done a (...)         Re: Feedback solicitation —Mike Stanley
(...) I don't think it's wrong at all. Everyone I've done business with on eBay (all 2 or 3 of them) have requested that I leave good feedback for them, offering to do the same. I don't think you can actually leave positive feedback for someone (...) (25 years ago, 18-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.theory)

         Re: Feedback solicitation —Larry Pieniazek
(...) I don't believe that is the case... I left you positive feedback w/o reference to a particular transaction way back when, and I just left some positive feedback w/o reference (for Ali V.) to reconfirm that things haven't changed. (25 years ago, 18-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.theory)

         Re: Feedback solicitation —Christian Holtje
      (...) Yup, correct 100%. :) (and I was truthful, too!) Ciao! (25 years ago, 18-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.theory)

         Re: Feedback solicitation —Mike Stanley
(...) You're right, I'm wrong. Just left positive feedback for you. (25 years ago, 19-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.theory)

        Re: Feedback solicitation —Simon Robinson
I can't see anything wrong with asking people, provided you are confining it to a simple request to leave feedback if they are happy with a transaction and you are not putting any pressure on them. I've received goods before with enclosed notes (...) (25 years ago, 18-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.theory)

        Re: Feedback solicitation —Richard Franks
(...) (I've added a few '' pairs to any words that I condider subjective!) I don't think that it is wrong as such, but for me it goes against the principle of feedback. Ie. feedback is 'worth' a lot more if the person is so truely impressed with (...) (25 years ago, 19-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.theory)

         Re: Feedback solicitation —Mike Stanley
(...) That's not how eBay feedback is seen or used. It is almost completely _quantity_-based. You'll see people say, "I don't think someone with such a low number feedback should be making comments like that." Even if the person has 5 purely (...)          Re: Feedback solicitation —Richard Franks
(...) Fair enough, I tried not to pass any judgement as I do believe that what Larry is asking about is neither 'right' or 'wrong'. The only real point that I was trying to make is that doing something just because everyone else does it isn't (...) (25 years ago, 19-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.theory)

         Re: Feedback solicitation —Mike Stanley
(...) Agreed. Unfortunately, the latter is the norm on eBay. (25 years ago, 19-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.theory)

         Re: Feedback solicitation —Larry Pieniazek
(...) I agree. And I'd never leave positive feedback for someone I had serious issues with just because they left positive feedback for me. However, given the way eBay works, I have been putting a statement to the effect of "I welcome feedback and (...) (25 years ago, 19-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.theory)

         Re: Feedback solicitation —Frank Filz
(...) I don't think you have to spend an hour reading someones feedback. When evaluating a seller, I look for a reasonable positive rating (the larger the transaction, the higher I look for). I do go in and look at the comments. What I do is look at (...) (25 years ago, 19-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.theory)

        Re: Feedback solicitation —Troy Cefaratti
(...) I do believe that this is the norm on eBay, and would hardly be considered uncouth. While I do not actively solicit feedback, I have managed to get to get a decent number of positive feedbacks (46 rating). I'd wager though, that if we compared (...)         Re: Feedback solicitation —Scott Arthur
This is a problem for me too. What I do is say: "I’m happy when you are happy. I’ll post feedback as soon as you do the same for me." I thought this would upset my buyers/sellers, but the oposite has been true. I've had a few e-mails saying that (...) (25 years ago, 19-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: Feedback solicitation —Christopher L. Weeks
(...) No. (...) Yes. But it's also the norm. (...) It seems that you have succeeded. (...) You have more than doubled that with this note. Good job. (...) Nah, but they might think it's odd. (...) Why not? If eBay didn't want that, then they'd (...) (25 years ago, 21-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.theory)

        Re: Feedback solicitation —John DiRienzo
I read in the eBay rules once that positive feedback can be given to anyone for any reason, but negative feedback must be transaction related. I think there was an example for a positive feedback that said, "So and so turned me onto eBay, forever (...) (25 years ago, 29-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.theory)
