This is a very interesting outfit. Nothing to do with LEGO per se, but
interesting.

By contrast, Serious Collector is going for, to me, the epitome of
dignified.

Yes, The Serious Collector is definitely more dignified than evil Ebay.  The
best feature has always been the resettable auction clock which effectively
eliminates sniping.  I also like the seller option of extended auctions for as
long as 30 days.

We don't hear from Derick Buckley lately; this could be due to disappointment
with the lack of participation by the online Lego community.  Aside from Matt
Chiles, no one else has used TSC for Lego auctions for a while.  I think this
is unfortunate.  Derick has offered (likely still standing) to provide free
listings and no comission fees for Lego auctions; very few people have taken
advantage of this.
If Lugnetters used this venue, it could become a safe haven for AFOLs to
auction their goodies and the automation would be simpler than running auction
manually on lugnet.auction or rec.toys.lego.
I had intended to make use of Derick's generosity in providing free listings,
but have found that there does not seem to be much Lego traffic there.

Any ideas why lugnetters are not using TSC, aside from the fact that their
auctions would be lonely there?  I mean, are other people seeing flaws or
disadvantages that I do not see?

I used TSC as a seller early on and got market rates, but after a while it
never seemed to get the traffic. As a result some buyers (including Larry) got
bargains, and I lost out on what I might have got on eBay. I switched from TSC
when two lots failed to get bids and subsequently sold easily on eBay. The
winning bidder on my last TSC lot never came through with payment.

(...) got (...) TSC (...) Time is limited for me. So I only search ebay/lugnet/rtl for the stuff I want online. I'm sure if I monitored TSC, yahoo etc I'd get a better deal... but I can not justify the time. (...) There is often a lot of talk of (...) (25 years ago, 24-Feb-00, to lugnet.market.theory)
