We had a great time at the NHVRY and we actually had more stuff than we
could fit in the small space.  I think we will be fine.  We don't need to
"compete" with the other groups to have a good time.  However, I will get
working on a layout plan so people can start claiming real estate for
planning purposes.

I think it would definitely be worth getting a generous space.

One thing I am sure of, we will have plenty of trains.  I ran into Frank
Filz at Target (small world - he was speaking with my brother-in-law as they
combed through the LEGO clearance stuff) the other day and we discussed the
train show and trains in general.  I have come to the conclusion that I have
about 20 different trains (between LEGO sets and MOCs, some complete trains,
some just engines) and a bunch of rolling stock.  If we just had to depend
on my trains we would be okay but that isn't the point.  We need everyone to
contribute however they can.  If we run out of time I have a bunch of older
LEGO Town (Fire Stations, Gash 'N Wash Express, etc.) that could be used to
fill space.

That was definitely the most unexpected store meeting I've had. We
cleaned out that Target pretty well didn't we?

In addition to preparing for the Pirate Game at Brickfest, I need to
work on some town/train stuff. One thing I can definitely contribute is
track (9V and monorail) and baseplates. I can also provide some older
sets for filler.

I have come to the conclusion that I like freight trains much more than I
like passenger trains so I have been thinking of building some sort of
loading yard.  Just ideas as this point but I do need to get going.  I
always under estimate how much time it takes to build something.  I will
also probably build some sort of downtown theme either modeled after
downtown Apex or downtown Cary (I like Apex better so it is more likely).

A freight yard and a recognizable downtown sound like good ideas. While
it isn't big, downtown Morrisville would also be a good choice (and
could actually be done fairly accurately due to its small size).

I'd also like to have a significant water area, I've got a ton of boats
(though no real MOCs), but I might get some ideas by June.
