Well as some of you know there was an auto show here in San Diego over the weekend. And Sunday was kids day sponsored by Legoland. (...) Yes, the vast majority of the engine is non-LEGO. The LEGO body is actually like a shell which simply lifts off, leaving the non LEGO parts (frame, wheels, battery, etc). Todd, during my first trip to LEGOLAND CA, I got a 3-hour tour of the backroom, model shop, and animatronics control room. I picked up several models either displayed throughout the park or featured in the DK book. This was over a year ago so my (...) Hi All- As a follow up to my trip report, here's a few pictures to go along with it... The Safari Trek ride is a bunch of Zebra painted Jeeps with false steering wheels. Check that - NORTH of LAX, not south. You may want to look at some of the shells by legoland - just grab the white pages and use the phone, not the gas to look. Ya, they are still on sale - they are starting to be hard to find. There are still tons of the small $1.60 sets, and I still see the big sets around. Just to remind you - I am not sure if you can get the shell lego sets up there - but if not there are lots of shells from Los Angeles to San diego. Here is a driving hint for you - take the 405 and not the 5 - the 5 is a mess all the way from LA to (...)
