The reason is that you and I have done it the hard way, so we can appreciate
what a great thing the bulk service really is. We've spent $1000s to get
certain parts, slowly collected onesies and twosies through auctions and parts
sales (*before* Brickbay) to get enough elements to build a MOC, so we know a
great thing when we see it.

Back in 1987 I bought NINETY of the 517 small basic sets just to get enough windows (180 1x4x3 yellow and 180 1x2x2 yellow) to finish my 25 story ONE SHELL PLAZA Art Deco office building back then (building is (...) (24 years ago, 13-Feb-01, to lugnet.lego.direct)
