    Lego Purity —David Eaton
So, after being pointed at a (URL) thread on Classic-Space by Felix Greco>, I figured it might be interesting to see how the community feels about Lego purity in general. So, I made a little test: (URL) Right now, it's only got my own information, (...) (17 years ago, 25-Sep-07, to lugnet.general, FTX) !!

        Re: Lego Purity —Tim David
(...) Hmmm, I know I'm not Mr Pure, but I'm not sure why I scored quite so (URL) low>! Tim (17 years ago, 25-Sep-07, to lugnet.general, FTX)

         Re: Lego Purity —David Eaton
(...) I'm kind of suprised as well, actually-- it seems that a fair number of people think that Galidor, Znap, Bionicle, Clikits, etc are more impure than I would've thought them to be. I would've figured more people would say that they were fine, (...) (17 years ago, 25-Sep-07, to lugnet.general, FTX)

         Re: Lego Purity —Matija Puzar
(...) Wow, I'm even worse... I feel dirty! Anyway thanks, nice to see what is the general trend :) Would it be possible also to show the overall general score? Cheers, Matija (17 years ago, 25-Sep-07, to lugnet.general, FTX)

         Re: Lego Purity —David Eaton
(...) Alright, I sneakily changed how it calculates things behind-the-scenes, so... you're still low, but not *AS* low. Basically, I was using a weighted average and a straightforward "distance from the mean" method for calculating scoring. I now (...) (17 years ago, 25-Sep-07, to lugnet.general, FTX)

         Re: Lego Purity —Brian Davis
(...) So, then, the way you're fudging the LEGO purity scores... makes you less pure? Wow, this could get needlessly self-referential... (17 years ago, 26-Sep-07, to lugnet.general)

          Re: Lego Purity —David Eaton
(...) Ow, my purity! DaveE (17 years ago, 26-Sep-07, to lugnet.general)

         Re: Lego Purity —Ross Crawford
(...) Are you sure the Pure/Impure headings above the scores are the right way round? According to them, I score 10/10 :D ROSCO (17 years ago, 26-Sep-07, to lugnet.general, FTX)

        Re: Lego Purity —Keith Goldman
(...) Dave that was fun. Apparently I'm 8.25 on your purity scale. I feel all fresh and clean. Like a summer's day. (URL) Thanks, -Keith. (17 years ago, 25-Sep-07, to lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: Lego Purity —Aaron M. Sneary
(...) No Dave Eaton test will ever truly wash away the taint on you, Keith, but as long as you keep building monstrously dictatorial dioramas, we'll still love you. Aaron (17 years ago, 25-Sep-07, to lugnet.general, FTX)

        Re: Lego Purity —Nathan Todd
As a bit of a puritan (in Lego terms ; ) I was shocked to not even make 8... Great idea though! God Bless, Nathan (17 years ago, 25-Sep-07, to lugnet.general, FTX)

        Re: Lego Purity —David Gregory
On a scale of 0-10, you rated yourself 9/10 in terms of purity. According to our data, on a purity scale from 0-10, you rate 9.05/10. I guess I know myself pretty well. ; ) David (17 years ago, 25-Sep-07, to lugnet.general, FTX)

         Re: Lego Purity —Brian Davis
(...) I thought I did - I rated myself an 8, and came in at 8.3 or thereabouts when I started... but I was the 2nd person to fiull it out. Over time, I've noticed my purity score is dropping (but only due to a few questions... odd, I wonder if I (...) (17 years ago, 25-Sep-07, to lugnet.general)

        Re: Lego Purity —Ross Crawford
(...) LOL it's a fun test, but different people may use different criteria for answering the questions. For example I used "Have you/would you use ... ?" to answer mine, and scored 0/10, but I haven't actually used many of the things I marked "ok" (...)          Re: Lego Purity —David Eaton
(...) Yeah, I thought about that at first-- more of a standard "Purity Test" rather than a "Lego-Purism" test. A "have-you-ever" sort of deal, to tell how much of a Lego Saint you were or something. But then I started thinking about it, and, well, (...) (17 years ago, 25-Sep-07, to lugnet.general, FTX)

        Re: Lego Purity —Aaron Amatnieks
(...) WOOT! 0.23/10. not even making it to one. I would like to thank the countless baseplates and bricks cut, my love of the clickits double ended joiner, and Brasso for this outstanding achivement. Thank you one and all. Aaron A (17 years ago, 25-Sep-07, to lugnet.general, FTX)

        Re: Lego Purity —David Simmons
WOW. I guess I don't know myself at all! I rated myself 8 out of 10 and came out around 3 on the scale. There were some items where I had no particular feeling or I felt it didn't apply, so perhaps that was a factor. Anyway, still love the hobby so (...)         Re: Lego Purity —Scott E. Sanburn
David & All, (...) Wow, I thought myself maybe an 8, and I ended up with a 1.33. Well, considering that I have no issues with cutting baseplates, wire for train creations, cutting up official LEGO wiring to extend them, painting elements that never (...)         Re: Lego Purity —Johannes Koehler
Hello! OK... I considered myself quite pure in respect of Lego. My first try yielded a poor impure 5.something, though. So I thought it over, adjusted some answers from "of course!" to "I don’t mind", and suddenly I’m 7.98/10 pure. What keeps me (...) (17 years ago, 26-Sep-07, to lugnet.general)

        Re: Lego Purity —Tommy Armstrong

         Re: Lego Purity —David Eaton
(...) Heh, yep, that's precisely how it's supposed to work :) If you're ok with things like gluing, using stickers, etc, then you're not as big of a purist! If you count everything as blasphemous, though, then you're a pretty definite purist! DaveE (17 years ago, 26-Sep-07, to lugnet.general, FTX)

         Re: Lego Purity —Tommy Armstrong
(...) yea, I understand that, but I cannot be a pure non-purist which is what a 0.00 score would indicate if I thought 3 were blasphemous. I mean, by picking three as blasphemous, I have contaiminated the purity of my "non-purity" and therefore I (...) (17 years ago, 26-Sep-07, to lugnet.general, FTX)

         Re: Lego Purity —David Eaton
(...) Ahh, ok, I see what you mean. Yeah, this part is difficult. In my scoring mechanism, I was trying to predict what the most likely deviation from the mean would be, but I didn't have any data at the time. Under the covers, the way it scores you (...)         Re: Lego Purity —Eric Druon
(...) Congrats Dave, it's really an interesting idea. I didn't consider myself as pure and rated myself at 3/10.         Re: Lego Purity —Kyle Peterson
I'm shocked I scored as high as a 5.5! An overall 58% for fan-created customs. Pretty cool!         Re: Lego Purity —Greg Hyland
(...) A fun test! I thnk I came out at about 7.7. It's weird, because we're all so complex, so how do you make a simple test and gett accuate answers?         Re: Lego Purity —scott Frischmann
(...) 0.67/10!? Not shure, but whatever. I really don't mind. (URL) My question is, since most who rated clones 1/5, also rated modding clones 1/5, so if you consider clones a blasphemy, wouldn't modding clones then be a moot point? (17 years ago, 26-Sep-07, to lugnet.general, FTX)
