So why all the whining about the color changes? —Bruce Schlickbernd
I started a poll with the basic question: "How long before the Lego company beats a shame-faced strategic retreat and returns the old grays and browns permanently to production?" (URL) So far, over half have answered "Never". If you believe that (...) (20 years ago, 19-Mar-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

(...) Sometimes when things don't go our way, we like to yell as loud as we can in the hopes that 'the gods may be listening....' Eh, I've never been one to 'shake my fist' at the injustice of it all... waittaminit, I have, but I wouldn't get my (...) (20 years ago, 19-Mar-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

(...) Too True Dave. General Comments/Rants 1. There is another side to the "color doesn't match well with my collection theory" and that is that a) I don't think Lego cares about AFOL's in general or their mounds of bricks to start off with b) I (...)          Re: So why all the whining about the color changes? —Marc Nelson, Jr.
(...) The official reason given for the color change was that new colors were less "muddy" and would be more appealing to kids. No mention was made of the new colors being cheaper to produce (although that hasn't been denied). But Jake McKee has (...) (20 years ago, 20-Mar-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: So why all the whining about the color changes? —James Brink
I haven't said much on the issue, but every time I see a new dark "grey" brick my stomach turns because it a) doesn't match my old bricks and b) looks like a blah color to me. It just doesn't look right. Every non-afol person I've told of the change (...) (20 years ago, 19-Mar-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

(...) Hi Bruce, I'm not sure if the data you've collected can be easily interpreted in that way without knowing which people have complained. It's possible that those who answered 'never' are the ones who are happy (or have settled for) the change. (...) (20 years ago, 19-Mar-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: So why all the whining about the color changes? —Larry Pieniazek

Re: So why all the whining about the color changes? —Bruce Hietbrink
The one thing I can't understand is the "I've got multiple thousands of dollars of bricks, now these new ones won't match, so I'm going to quit my hobby." My, perhaps simplistic question is: Why not continue building with the huge stockpile you (...) (20 years ago, 20-Mar-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: So why all the whining about the color changes? —Marc Nelson, Jr.
(...) I still hold out hope for the return of the old colors, especially after TLC's reversal on the Duplo/Explore name. But there are good reasons for expressing displeasure to TLC even if you don't think they will reverse the color change: Even if (...) (20 years ago, 20-Mar-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)
