I started a poll with the basic question:
How long before the Lego company beats a shame-faced strategic retreat and
returns the old grays and browns permanently to production?
http://members.lugnet.com/polls/ballots/?n=173
So far, over half have answered Never.
If you believe that (and Im not saying that you guys are wrong) then why
all the whining? Im not going to call it voicing your opinion or
expressing your concern, its whining. If you dont believe Lego will
act on the complaints at any time, then there isnt a lot of point in
voicing complaint. It would seem to me to be best to either shup up and move
on, or continue to express your displeasure in the belief that at some point
Lego will get a clue.

Hi Bruce,
Im not sure if the data youve collected can be easily interpreted in that
way without knowing which people have complained. Its possible that those
who answered never are the ones who are happy (or have settled for) the
change. Its also possible that those who answered never have complained
but have since given up hope based on the response they have received. I
didnt answer never because I still have some hope that this will be turned
around. But, I dont think any of us are in possession of enough facts to
answer the question with any authority, so it tends to look like wishful
thinking on the one hand and acquiescence or despair on the other.
More than the loss of colours, Im saddened by the effect all this has had on
our community. I wish that we could all get back to building in the colours
of our choice.
Peace and possibility,
Professor Whateverly

I answered never because I beleive thats the most probable outcome (you could
have constructed a poll (somewhere) that let me assign probabilities, but you
didnt).
That doesnt mean that I wouldnt like them to take this decision back, or that
I think its a certainty that they wont.
Further, I think there is merit in people calmly stating their opinions and
offering input, and weve had some good input, even when this topic comes up
again... as it has repeatedly. So I support discussion, even on the repetition
of a topic, as long as in doing so those participating are not just beating dead
horses or just whining or ignoring economic reality because I want it to work
that way.
We have had some good input in this most recent outbreak of discussion, but in
my view we may be reaching the point of diminishing returns, absent new events
that require new commentary. And the discussion is in and of itself somewhat
divisive which isnt necessarily how I want to spend great buckets of time ...
(Id rather build... I was at GMLTC last nite helping build the mountain, I wish
those guys all the best at LaCrosse this weekend... or teach... I have prepwork
to finish for our building clinic were giving at
CKM tomorrow ... or even chew the fat over in
.debate)
And I agree with those that this set of threads is certainly helping me firm up
my opinion of certain people. (both good and bad!) Id go so far as to say that
its helping me glean names for my BL stoplist, but that would be incorrect
because most of those that I would characterise as highest in heat:light ratio
are already on it for various reasons. But I digress.
