  LEGO disappearing from small toyshops

Hardly any small toyshops seem to carry LEGO anymore. I've been told that toyshop owners don't like to carry it because it's too "mass market" and they specialize in quality toys. Also, I suppose it is hard for toyshop owners to compete with the (...) (23 years ago, 14-Feb-02, to lugnet.general, lugnet.lego.direct)

(...) That's an excellent idea. I second that ! :) These days, LEGO Direct seams to be our only hope as the "right" LEGO. mc. (23 years ago, 14-Feb-02, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.general)

Re: LEGO disappearing from small toyshops

This certainly isnt the case in the UK I dont have any small toyshops near me, but when I was on holiday in the south of England, I was constantly suprised and pleased to see the range of LEGO the small toyshops were carrying, they certainly had (...) I would beg to differ!!! I think the range of Lego in the South East has dropped dramatically since the aftermath of Star Wasr Episode I and the closure of all the Toy Stack stores (they were great for sale items). Of course I can only vouch for the (...) (23 years ago, 14-Feb-02, to lugnet.market.theory)

For some time now I have been seeing all the small toy-shops from my childhood either disappear or cease selling LEGO. I never understood why that happened, but now you have mentioned the minimum order and obligation to use the full product line... (...) (23 years ago, 14-Feb-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: LEGO disappearing from small toyshops

(...) Um, isn't this *really* big news? A minimum buy of $1000 would make it reasonable for some parts sellers to buy Lego at wholesale. It's not 75% off clearance, but wholesale would be a good price, especially if it gave a seller the opportunity (...) (23 years ago, 15-Feb-02, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.market.theory)

(...) minimum (...) By crikey, at that minimum, it would be viable for some regular consumers to buy wholesale from them! I reckon I could put together an order of that size entirely based on pre-sales from local AFOLs. Now there's a thought! Kerry (23 years ago, 15-Feb-02, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.market.theory)
