Re: The effects of Bulk Sales are evident....

(...) I'm glad you said that, Gary!! Are you listening, GMLTCers;-D (They feel my buildings are *too large* for the new layout! One of my skyscrapers is 3 feet tall, which would make it over 6 feet tall when it sits on the module:-) -John (...) (23 years ago, 12-Feb-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.trains.org)

(...) John, your tall buildings are more then welcome at our train shows(MichLTC).I love my tall buildings and plan to make these 4 corner/center of town buildings (URL) as tall as this red one on the right of this picture (URL) Of course i tend to (...)   Re: The effects of Bulk Sales are evident....

We didn't say they were too large, we said they were out of line with the scale and theme we wanted. I want tall skyscapers too, just at a different width and length. <grin> -John (...) (23 years ago, 13-Feb-01, to lugnet.trains.org)

Re: The effects of Bulk Sales are evident....

(...) Yes John, we're "listening". Since your 'inside voice' is approximately the same volume level as a jackhammer, it's hard NOT to listen to you. Of course we still don't agree with you... Would you rather have a town of 20+ smaller buildings, or (...) (23 years ago, 13-Feb-01, to lugnet.trains.org)

Re: The effects of Bulk Sales are evident....

John proportionality is important, but I don't think your buildings are too large. Perhaps their layout is too small??? :-) Actually the best look is what I call the "cluster look". It looks better if you have large structures in groupings. Say 3 (...) (23 years ago, 13-Feb-01, to lugnet.trains.org)

Re: The effects of Bulk Sales are evident....

<snipped a whole bunch> We'd only argue with you about black being black because you would most certainly argue that to be black it had to be the size of a 2001 monolith. <grin> I like mini-land too, but that's not what we're aiming for. I know we (...) (23 years ago, 13-Feb-01, to lugnet.trains.org)

Re: The effects of Bulk Sales are evident....

(...) Tall isn't the problem (although transportion is an issue). Footprint is the issue. And one big building might be okay but we can't cram a dozen of 'em in there. So overall we need to shoot for something between "Lego corporate" scale and (...) (23 years ago, 13-Feb-01, to lugnet.trains.org)

Warning, a bit rambly post on the theory of realistic building scenes. (...) They (the MichLUG buildings) were stunning buildings but I think they suffered from not being close enough together.   Re: The effects of Bulk Sales are evident....

(...) Ya, but I thought that the entire layout was only about 16'x16'. That means, that your smallest building is about 2x the size of the layout :) (no, a 26x50 building is not all that big. I tend towards 32x32 as a max size for normal buildings, (...) (23 years ago, 14-Feb-01, to lugnet.trains.org)
