    CLSOTW voting —Dan Jezek
First of all I don't want to take anything away from this week's Cool Lego Site of the Week winner. Second of all I don't care if my site gets selected as a future winner. What strikes me odd is why did the unofficial Star Wars design contest win (...) (25 years ago, 19-Dec-99, to lugnet.general)

        Re: CLSOTW voting —Todd Lehman
(...) The voting facility is a suggestion facility. 9 times out of 10, what gets the most votes is what gets used as that week's pick. Sometimes there are exceptions, like when Bram's LDraw & LEdit tutorial went up as the weekly pick last year (...) (25 years ago, 19-Dec-99, to lugnet.general)

(...) there (...) I don't understand a word of that you just described above. For example there are sites A, B, C and D that people can vote on with radio buttons next to them. By the end of the week, Joe builds this very cool castle and 20 people (...) (25 years ago, 19-Dec-99, to lugnet.general)

(...) This may be clearer: (URL) [snip description of enhanced voting mechanism] A better voting mechanism will be feasable later when voting is more secure (via member sign-in, and after there are at least ~500 members or so), but for now it's (...)          Re: CLSOTW voting —Dan Jezek
(...) I see. Right now a person can submit multiple votes from a single IP. A not very effective solution would be to place a cookie on the client's PC after which they voted once for a specific week they couldn't vote again. This would eliminate (...)          Re: CLSOTW voting —Todd Lehman
(...) I think people should be able to give fractional votes: You get 1.0 "voting points" to spread out however you want among the sites. You might give 30% to one and 70% to another, for example. --Todd (25 years ago, 20-Dec-99, to lugnet.general)

         Re: CLSOTW voting —Fred Carcanague
Out of curiosity... What are the standards to be nominated for CLSOTW? My site has been online since just after tax time 99' w/decient traffic.          Re: CLSOTW voting —Todd Lehman
(...) Anyone can nominate any site for any reason, even their own site. Where it ends up in the queue is somewhat subjective, based on a number of factors, and also somewhat objective, based on the quantity or frequency of nominations. When a newly (...)          Re: CLSOTW voting —Dave Astolfo
Funny, I found the same for my site. Last yr from Sept98 till July99 my site drew over 10000 unique hits. I have updated my counter, and since July 99, I have rec'd 2900 hits - but yet I have not received any CLSOTW nominations. I kinda thought my (...) (25 years ago, 22-Dec-99, to lugnet.general)
