Game LUG at GenCon '03 (was: A national (global?) gaming-themed LUG!)

---GameLUG: Game LUG is an organization for people everywhere who are both gamers and fans of LEGO. The specific focus of Game LUG is on games based on the use LEGO elements. This focus is meant to be inclusive of anyone who thinks the description (...) (22 years ago, 28-Feb-03, to lugnet.gaming)

Re: A national (global?) gaming-themed LUG!

(...) I for one would avoid putting 'world' or 'global' in the title, as some people were discussing. If the group isn't localized then just don't put a location. You might as well put 'galaxy-wide.' How about "LEGO-Using Gamers' Network," or (...) (22 years ago, 26-Feb-03, to lugnet.gaming)

(...) IMHO... (...) I think any fan developed brick-based or brick-inspired game would be approriate to include. It would give us more options on what to bring to events, and also attract a bigger group (which I know may or may not be good). (...) (...) (22 years ago, 25-Feb-03, to lugnet.gaming)

Re: LEGO gaming at Gen Con?

(...) One thing we need for the Pirate Game is a bunch of cutters, but we'll also need larger ships, mostly lots of class 2 and class 3 ships. Of course cutters are easy to pack, I can get 11 cutters and a few extra bits into two shoe boxes. Frank (22 years ago, 25-Feb-03, to lugnet.gaming)

Re: A national (global?) gaming-themed LUG!

Hmm, I haven't seen any names that really inspire yet. Some things to consider though: - does it just cover the war type games, or does it cover any brick based game - does it cover official games (such as LEGO Creator) - does it cover computer (...) (22 years ago, 25-Feb-03, to lugnet.gaming)

Re: A national (global?) gaming-themed LUG!

(...) The last is neat; the first is the defacto standard these days. I like World LEGO Gamers, but not the acronym it forms. ILGO - International LEGO Gaming Organzition (follows the form of ILTCO) GWB - Gamers with Bricks That last makes me wonder (...) (22 years ago, 25-Feb-03, to lugnet.gaming)

  Re: Lego Wars needs renaming.

(...) Oh yeah, I just noticed on Frank's link page that there is a Wooden Ships and Plastic Men pirate game, so I guess that's out. Chris (22 years ago, 25-Feb-03, to lugnet.gaming)

  Re: Lego Wars needs renaming.

(...) This one reminded me of the Wooden Ships and Iron Men game title. Is there already a take-off on that name in the brick-based game arena? Plastic Knights and Little Men? Building Bricks and Plastic Men? Plastic Fight Club? (That shouldn't (...) (22 years ago, 25-Feb-03, to lugnet.gaming)

  A national (global?) gaming-themed LUG!

Hi all, Springing from the discussion about this summer's Gen Con on lugnet.fun.gaming, several people have expressed interest in a non-regional gaming-with-LEGO organization. The initial reason we want to form this group is to have a unified body (...) (22 years ago, 25-Feb-03, to lugnet.gaming, lugnet.org)

  Lego Wars needs renaming.

Heya folks. If I do take Lego Wars: The Simple Version(1) to GenCon, I will need to rename it before offending the copyright gods. It's slid under the radar so far because it's not very well known, but if it's going to be printed as an event at a (...) (22 years ago, 25-Feb-03, to lugnet.gaming)

Re: LEGO gaming at Gen Con?

(...) Add me to the list of people saying "This is a Good Idea." Initially, at least, it doesn't need to be much more than a mailing list and a name. Does someone in this have the capability of setting up a list, or should we go to Yahoo or (...) (22 years ago, 25-Feb-03, to lugnet.gaming)

(...) I'm thinking about coming... can't commit yet but if I did I could run a Mechaton session for 4 hours if there was interest. Fun beer and pretzels game. Possibly combine it with the jumping frog game to fill out the track? (22 years ago, 25-Feb-03, to lugnet.gaming)
