No.

TLC wants to make money.  If a partnership with Microsoft (which as
myself and obviously some others agree, is a vile and worthless armpit
of a company) will help TLC, then they will form a partnership with
Microsoft.  If diversifying their product line will make money, then
they will diversify their product line.  If people in a general sense
are "happy" with TLC, then TLC is happy because they can make money.

If AFOLs express neg-a-tory opinions on Lugnet, do you really think that
TLC is going to feel so bad that they'll break down and cry?  No
company, person, creature, or other entity will ever make EVERYONE happy
- what TLC has to do is analyze the opinions expressed here on LUGNET
and determine their value - how much do they weigh.  If the opinions are
enough to tip the scales, then TLC will grab the idea and run with it.

Nobody argues that junioriation was/is bad - ANYONE, LEGO fan or not,
upon looking at a set from 1998 and a set from 1992 that is selling for
the same price will argue that the 1992 set is a better buy for the
buck. --Well, at least that's my theory.

Is it really our job to make TLC feel good about themselves?  C'mon here
- I hate to be one to scream "Corporate Devils" - because I don't really
buy that - but are you telling me that if LEGO could make a go of
selling interlocking poop the wouldn't do it?

If we express negative opinions about TLC, even if we express negative
opinions about EVERYTHING that TLC does, the truth is we'll keep buying
LEGO until TLC "tips" us over the edge.  This complaining is nothing
like the complaining we may do about governments or some such, this is
the kind of complaining that HELPS TLC.

Your statement Dave, "But these are things we have to deal with"....what
is THAT?  TLC doesn't "owe" you or me or anyone else anything the same
as we don't "owe" them anything.  It is in TLC's interest that they
develop products that people will buy.  If they do in fact consider the
LUGNET people a valuable representation of all the people that will buy
LEGO they will listen.

The "tone" that I get from your post is that we should somehow apologize
for expressing our opinions and thank TLC.

If you want to thank someone thank Todd Lehman and Suzanne Rich for
setting up and maintaining LUGNET.  Their efforts aren't (at least to my
knowledge) to yeild a bountiful harvest of profit (although if they are
more power to them), but rather to house an incredible online community
of people of like interests.

I may at this point indeed wish to thank thank TLC for creating and
maintaining LEGO as I have become very fond of it, and I congradulate
them on their overwhelming success, but I do not feel any need to
apologize to them.

I can't quite see TLC saying "Gee we can't do anything to make people
like our new ideas - the heck with them let's just do whatever we want -
I'm sure that we'll get profit some way or another".

With the recent Microsoft announcement, a number of us have expressed opinions of varying negativity for reasons ranging from the well-founded to the kneejerk. Similarly, following the implementation of the bulk sale service, quite a few people (...) (23 years ago, 12-Jan-01, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.general)
