  Re: 8779 1 x 2 Brick Color?

(...) Reposting my own message, still hoping for some help. The original post was during the Letter To CEO discussion, and may have been overlooked at the time. Thank you! (20 years ago, 27-Feb-05, to lugnet.color)

Re: Impact of New Colours -- 1 year later [Was: Deathstar]

(...) I could probably repeat Johns words in respect to the newest gears in the technic line. I still don't have any 36 tooth gears, as their only available in the spybotics line, which dosn't appeal to me. I'm not complaining though as I know I'll (...) (20 years ago, 26-Feb-05, to lugnet.color)

Re: Impact of New Colours -- 1 year later [Was: Deathstar]

(...) My initial reaction was, oh well, its going to take a while to get enough kinds of parts in the new colors before I can plan MOCs using them. That turns out to be the case. I don't have enough parts yet. The downside, as far as buying sets, is (...) (20 years ago, 26-Feb-05, to lugnet.color)

Re: LEGO Facts and Figures - tolerance on part sizes

(...) There's a big difference between the *mould* tolerance (the 5 micron one) and the tolerance on the resulting ABS part. Running the process faster, releasing the ABS parts at a higher temperature, will make the produced parts more irregular (...)   Re: LEGO Facts and Figures - tolerance on part sizes

Was Jake talking about the tolerances of the actual mould whereas the Lego facts are refering to the bricks themselves. The moulds would need to be much more accurate than the bricks that came out of them. Dunno, just a thought (20 years ago, 25-Feb-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.color, lugnet.lego)

Re: LEGO Facts and Figures - tolerance on part sizes

(...) This doesn't line up with what Jake said about plate height tolerance last June: (URL) He said it was 3.2mm +/-0.1mm, twenty times the tolerance quoted above. What publication was the 0.005mm tolerance taken from - can the relevant part of it (...) (20 years ago, 24-Feb-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.color, lugnet.lego)

  Re: Pics from ToyFair 2005

(...) Entirely possible, although the context of the rest of Larry's message is about Jorgen being put off by the Lugnet color discussion. As far as I recall that discussion has been entirely about the colors themselves, not the designs of the sets (...) (20 years ago, 23-Feb-05, to lugnet.color)

  Re: Pics from ToyFair 2005

(...) Hey Jake, my ears are burning :-). Steve (20 years ago, 22-Feb-05, to lugnet.color, FTX)

  Re: Pics from ToyFair 2005

(...) I can see how frustrating it can get. My job involves a lot of that as well, I design web interfaces that have to be useful for absolute noobs ("what's this clicky thing on a string fer?") as well as power users... it's either "too hard" or (...)   Re: Pics from ToyFair 2005

(...) 1) The company. They'd lose money and waste ABS that they bought buy buying back the hordes of old gray. Also takes people's time (aka more money) to make the change happen. 2) Various fringe fans. "I invested a lot of money into the new light (...) (20 years ago, 22-Feb-05, to lugnet.color, FTX)

  Re: Pics from ToyFair 2005

(...) Thanks for the discussion Jake. It's certainly true that you can't please all of the people all of the time. The danger of course is that it's easy to fall into the trap of dismissing contrary opinions, since "someone will always be (...) (20 years ago, 22-Feb-05, to lugnet.color, FTX) !

  Re: Pics from ToyFair 2005

(...) I'm going to make some big fat frothing assumptions here and try to "explain" Jorgen's comment - at least from my position in the company. This is meant as nothing more than a helpful hint as to this particular situation (and a bit of "Jake's (...) (20 years ago, 22-Feb-05, to lugnet.color, FTX) !

  Re: Pics from ToyFair 2005

(...) I think you are misreading. My impression (from what I read) was that Jorgen found it dispiriting that however good a model he designed, there would be people that didn't like it simply because it was bley. Not, as you seem to have read it, (...) (20 years ago, 22-Feb-05, to lugnet.color)

  Re: Pics from ToyFair 2005

(...) I don't know for sure, I didn't ask, but I would GUESS those people that have already made an investment in sets that contain new gray? ++Lar (from AMS... KLM lounge to be specific) (20 years ago, 22-Feb-05, to lugnet.color)

  Re: Pics from ToyFair 2005

(...) I am certainly overanalyzing this paraphrase of what was most likely an offhand remark, but I find this remark puzzling. What part of the fan base would be set off by returning to the old colors? I do recall seeing a small handful of posts of (...) (20 years ago, 22-Feb-05, to lugnet.color)

  Re: Pics from ToyFair 2005

(...) Yes. Obviously! Why wouldn't it be? They said they're not changing back. (the preLEGO pics from the Times Square TRU PaB... that's all new light grey near as I could tell) As I commented somewhere else, this set is going to make those that (...) (20 years ago, 20-Feb-05, to lugnet.color)

  Re: I wish they'd halved the color palette first . . .

(...) Perhaps the sarcasm warning light was still on for that particular suggestion(1), but if it was not, *I* would suggest caution about posting color stuff to lugnet.fun... one would be well served to carefully examine the charter and make sure (...) (20 years ago, 13-Feb-05, to lugnet.color)

  Re: I wish they'd halved the color palette first . . .

(...) Dear Dave, what is so hard to understand about this (sarcasm warning lights on!): You know, there are these focus groups and they tested the new stuff hard on kids and those kids LOVED the new bright colours so unbelievable hard.... This is (...) (20 years ago, 13-Feb-05, to lugnet.color)

  I wish they'd halved the color palette first . . .

then maybe they wouldn't have had to change gray, dark gray and brown to save money? Dave (STILL trying to make sense of things) (20 years ago, 12-Feb-05, to lugnet.color)

  Re: bricks & plates forever!

(...) Burkhard, I think that there is major difference in the building styles between German and USA AFOLs. In Germany you have 11,000 Castles, thousands of historic churches, hundreds of medieval cities, lots of medieval gates, walls and other (...) (20 years ago, 10-Feb-05, to lugnet.color)
