I propose:
1. That we maintain the former Castle World as a linked archive off the new
CWs main page (i.e. the index page). 2. That in furtherance of point #1
that I finish archiving TIOM and create an extra page documenting some of
what was supposed to happen with TIOM but did not come to fruition. Slightly
adjacent to this last bit, might be the recreation of C. Hamiltons webpages
as Craigo was a major mover behind CW along with Pawel. For that matter I
have at least some of Pawels stuff archived also. Permanently honoring the
two creators of CW would not be too far amiss, I think. 3. That we otherwise
start afresh with the single exception of the following branded CW
logo/button (the same button that currently appears in our CW newsgroup
sidebar, and that also appears in the current castle newsgroup sidebar):

I have no problem with the idea of keeping the old website in tact, but all it
is at the moment is a museum for the days gone by anyway.
|
For those that do not know -- this image is based on a CW logo created by C.
Hamilton. Besides being a founding member of CW, Craigo is a reknowned
artist working in the field of comic books -- notably for DC Comics.
Frankly, we could do a lot worse than this logo. Please take note that the
logo plays off of two official Lego designs -- the Dragon Masters standard,
and the Time Twisters logo (please note the following visual references):
I dont know if people know this, but the Time Twisters 4x4 radar dish was
supposed to be a vortex on the CW map, a place of magickal possibilities --
the concept was an integral part of TIOM. Theres history here in this
image, people! I am being pretty assertive about the continued use of
Craigos design but we can discuss it if people strongly object to it for
some reason.
|
I mean no disrespect, and Im sure that Craig is a great artist, but so what?
IOM never revealed this wonderful vortex image and a quick search proves that
Craig hasnt posted to Lugnet in over 2 years. In fact, there havent been
posts by any of the original founders of CW in a very long time.
If the original founders of Castle World cared so much about the future of the
website they would never have removed themselves from it. Quite frankly,
Richard, if they still cared about the website, you wouldnt be in charge of it.
We really need no museum caretakers to move Lugnet.castle forward. Its healthy
to look into the past. Its unhealthy to stare.
|
My suggestion to start the discussion going is to try to define what was good
about CW before such that wed like to see more of it. In other words: What
do we already have in CW with which we can begin again?
|
The Balladeers list and their Ballads is a good place to start. The creatures
list is a good asset as well.
|
From there we might consider the impact of possibly competing projects on
castle overall and try to devise ways of minimizing division and instead
fostering unification. I would personally like to CW working cooperatively
with other castle projects.
|
If youre speaking of the Castle Guild website, I dont see that interfering
with Castle World. I see the Guild as a place for the actual building with
LEGO, as opposed to showcasing stories and such.
|
Lastly, we can consider the administration of the NEW CW, although this may
seem a bit abstract in advance of having more firmly established goals.
Wait for it...
Go!

As I said, I meant no disrespect with any of my comments. I see a great
opportunity for Castle World to lead .castle into a brighter future. But I also
see a great and terrible opportunity for Castle World to become just a dusy
relic. I just want the best for our theme and area of Lugnet.

| Do you object to maintaining the archive as a completely separate link from the new site? If yes, why should it disappear? Just because people are now long absent, doesn't mean that their existing contributions aren't worth preserving in some way. I (...) (21 years ago, 14-Aug-03, to lugnet.castle.org.cw, FTX)
