Re: Top 8 ways to get out of a slump ...

Wise words Pawel, and techniques I've been using lately. One other rut-losing method I've found that works for me is switching genre's. I know, I know, how could a dedicated Pirate-head like myself, one who only started buying legos after (...) (24 years ago, 15-Jan-01, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.build)

Re: Top 8 ways to get out of a slump ...

(...) I've found this technique to be very helpful too. For those of you who have visited my site, I have a wide variety of different themes that I build in, from Technic to space to sculpture to my current focus, which is town. I get hooked into a (...) (...) to (...) questions (...) Good ideas. Another one that I haven't seen anyone else say yet is to switch themes. If you're in a rut in Castle, try some Space or Town stuff. This will get you focused on something completely different and give you (...) (24 years ago, 15-Jan-01, to lugnet.castle)

Sean Forbes <moeby@msn.com> wrote in message news:G77zEB.EMn@lugnet.com... (...) Of course as soon as I post that "I haven't seen this yet", here is Sean with the same idea! :-D Tim (24 years ago, 15-Jan-01, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.build)

In lugnet.castle, Timothy D. Freshly replied to Pawel with: (...) How about a switch in time? And if you look to history for models, go to books hoping to find that very buildable inspiration! Take this as a plug for my Ancient Theme contest... (...) (24 years ago, 15-Jan-01, to lugnet.castle)

Re: My first attempt at a story. The Forest of Blood part 1.

(...) *grin* Thanks! I've found that inspiration comes from out of nowhere (A bolt of lightning in an otherwise darkened night) for me most of the time. Would you believe that the idea and story came about only because I sat down to photograph the 4 (...) (24 years ago, 16-Jan-01, to lugnet.castle)

Re: My first attempt at a story. The Forest of Blood part 1.

(...) Hmm, yes, I could believe that. Although my stories usually come to me when I'm trying to think them out, a few of my big ideas came very randomly and suddenly. And my characters all came *much* before the story did! I *always* have characters (...) (24 years ago, 16-Jan-01, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Top 8 ways to get out of a slump ...

(...) I myself am a Trainiac, but after coming across this thread, I have some input also. I like to listen to old (pre-1980) AC/DC for inspirational music, and the History Channel can't be beat for watching either. Books, magazines, and video (...) (24 years ago, 16-Jan-01, to lugnet.castle)

My new (actually really old) MOC: Gate to Sidon

Well, after finally deciding to take pictures of this after watching it sit around for about 7 months, I managed to tie it into my story line and make a pretty cool teaser. So here it is, The Gate to Sidon: (URL) (24 years ago, 16-Jan-01, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.build) !

Re: My first attempt at a story. The Forest of Blood part 1.

(...) Well, I checked it out earlier today at school, and I think it's fantastic! Very good for your first story. I was amazed how much image-editing you did for it. I particularly liked the ones where the LEGO path connected to the "real" path, (...) (24 years ago, 16-Jan-01, to lugnet.castle)

Re: My new (actually really old) MOC: Gate to Sidon

(...) Yeaaaay! New stuff from Wilson! At the risk of being unconstructive: I love it! It's so full of life and detail that I could spend a good 15-20 minutes just browsing the same pictures again and again. The details work as do the color (...) (24 years ago, 16-Jan-01, to lugnet.castle)

Re: My new (actually really old) MOC: Gate to Sidon

(...) Great model. Excellent optimization of parts (base and half tower pieces), and great use of color and slopes. I like the fortifications on the top the best. In the last photo with the two shadowy figures - it looks like there are four (...) (24 years ago, 16-Jan-01, to lugnet.castle)

Re: My first attempt at a story. The Forest of Blood part 1.

(...) <snip> (...) I've had these 4 characters sitting around for probably the better part of 6 months, now, actually. I guess they figured their own story out and made me tell it finally. <G> <snipped> (...) It certainly takes time; if nothing else (...) (24 years ago, 16-Jan-01, to lugnet.castle)

Re: My first attempt at a story. The Forest of Blood part 1.

(...) My official feedback is that you should keep doing this! The story was very well done, and the combining the foreground and the background was very well done. I'm a sucker for historical myth, even if the 'history' is ficticious, and the bit (...) (24 years ago, 16-Jan-01, to lugnet.castle)

Re: My first attempt at a story. The Forest of Blood part 1.

(...) <snipped> (...) I learned a new tool in PS - Blur. It worked fairly well to smooth the edges, especially of the trees, to make it look more like one image and not like I just cut something out of a magazine and slopped it onto another picture. (...)
