Hello all,
My latest creation is photographed and a collection of pictures
is up on brickshelf at:
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=15813
The "Phoenix' nest" was named such because it features a
copper statue of a rising phoenix mounted on the bell tower.
I tried to make this a fantasy/fairy-tale style castle, rather
than taking an existing architectural style as an example.
Making a realistic, bell-shaped bell from lego pieces turned
out problematic. I don't think I succeeded well, but I guess
with some imagination one can see a bell in here :o)
The castle stands on a rock made mainly of BURPs and the
whole is 32x32 studs and 58 bricks high.
Twan.

| (...) how you did it. How do people get inside? Through that tunnel in the rock below? Nice incorporation of the Bellvile roof. You don't see that often. Bruce (23 years ago, 3-May-02, to lugnet.castle)

| (...) Let me be the first to congratulate you on your very unique 'castle' structure. I am continuously amazed by people's ability to use wacky colors in subtle ways. The structure itself and architectural 'style' is both unique and pleasing. I (...) (23 years ago, 3-May-02, to lugnet.castle)

| (...) scheme works, and even the Belville tower top adds some flavor to it. As mentioned in other comments though ... how does one get in? It would be *really* cool if the only way to enter would be through a secret passage way inside the cave (hmmm (...) (23 years ago, 4-May-02, to lugnet.castle)

| Hi I really like this castle, especially the little window that hangs out from the edge in picture 01. How was that accoplished? It looks like you used some type of a hinge. (a smaller version of the type so populus in Hagrids hut?) It looks like (...) (23 years ago, 5-May-02, to lugnet.castle)

| Nice! Great to see a new approach to the use of colours, and working so well too! The pink, grey and white all mesh together to look realistic but simultaneously fairy tale like. Structurally it is a very compact little castle but it looks very (...) (23 years ago, 5-May-02, to lugnet.castle)

| Fantastic! Very good, Twan. But I wanna ask, from which sets/theme you got the components of the upper part of the tower? Are those from the Harry Porter theme? It's beautiful. Thanks for showing us. Jackie (...) (23 years ago, 5-May-02, to lugnet.castle)

| I love this set! I am about to attempt a white/pink castle for my daughters new 'princess' themed room. I may just have to blatantly copy your bell tower. Can you tell me where you got the slopes that are under the red windows - they look like they (...) (23 years ago, 7-May-02, to lugnet.castle)

| (...) Really nice. Interesting use of colors. Looks very good for a 'fairy-tale' type setting. Oh, and the bell (considering its Lego) is nice, too! BTW- I also like your little 'you got mail' animations, along with your shaw's museum. John Kruer (23 years ago, 9-May-02, to lugnet.castle)
