Whatever works I guess :) I was thinking of it in a sense that
as they are building the model and come across an unmade
patterned part that the write what the piece is supposed to be
and what step it is in. I don't think it would take too much
effort
to do this and the add them into errors.dat

So name it like any other submodel, inline and leave the header?
Seems OK.

Should we have another(oh, no not another) way of naming
submodes
that are not TLG, like the above?
Also, last night I was thinking about starting set 6071, but I
was
flipping through the instructions first and:
1. will the baseplate be submodel a or will it be S6071-YY.dat?
2. STEP 3 has a submodel, which has hinges. To physically make
the model, you would have to follow TLG's exact instructions. If
we
want to make it so that the door can be opened, then we won't be
able to build it the way you would physically. Take a look at
the scan
of this set(assuming you don't have it) and you'll see what I
mean.
