Yes, I can use the text drawer to shift multiselect.

Nope, option clicking doesn't do that special rotation.

Nope, the command key doesn't reactivate model rotation.

This routine is handled by the NSDrawer manager not MBC, so it may at least see if it's my keyboard mapping. Additionally, do these other keys work? 1. (...)
