What is the point of Type 5 lines?  It seems to me that they are a confusing
and clunky method to display lines for the visible edges of rounded objects
when having no line at all would be just as visually correct (and less
taxing on the brain to figure out how to use them correctly).  In the age of
Windows based LDRAW programs how useful is this line type?

I'm not sure how to quantify 'usefulness' of a line command.  If you want to
make outlines on simulated curved surfaces in LDraw, conditional lines are
vital.  I can't think of another to accomplish this task.

And making the outlines is fairly important -- having an outline around
*some* of a part, and not *all* of the part, is visually incorrect.

Conditional lines are a pain, but they're the best (and only) game in the
LDraw town.
