  Re: New Parts Category: Cockpit

(...) Does anyone else see things the same way as Jonathan does? It's not what I had been thinking, but Cockpit could be defined to include both the base parts and the canopy parts. The only thing is this: Windscreen is a fairly cleanly- defined (...) (24 years ago, 7-Jul-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: New Parts Category: Cockpit

Talking about the subject summarized at: (...) I think canopy pieces should probably stay in the Windscreen group. I can see putting the Space Nose and Space Cabin Base pieces in a Cockpit group. There's not really any other place to stick them, (...) (24 years ago, 7-Jul-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Category Statement

(...) I'd say there are no plans to add statements for all part files. The 'default value' for category is the first word in the partname. Since, 3001.dat doesn't have a 0 CATEGORY statement, its category comes from the part name, and the category (...) (24 years ago, 7-Jul-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Speaking of colors...

(...) Silver looks more like brushed aluminum. (...) I think so -- it appears that the new silver is actually the color of the plastic, not a post-molding layer that's plated onto the parts. (...) suggestions being trans-black, 32, or trans-dark (...) (24 years ago, 7-Jul-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Category Statement

I thought about making use of the category statement in MLCad. This would have allowed to group the parts by category rather than by name or something else .... ... but I did a quick check on the parts and found out that only arround 5% of the parts (...)   Re: Speaking of colors...

(...) I think it makes sense to use a special code for rubber, and 256 sounds like a good choice. (...) Let's see. In LDraw, if dithered color K is constructed out of solid colors I and J as 256 + I * 16 + J, I believe the edge-color of K will be (...) (24 years ago, 7-Jul-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Speaking of colors...

Color 256 for Black Rubber was suggested by John VanZwieten one year ago, see eg. (URL) haven't received any suggestions for the POV setting for rubber, so I just turned off reflection. I announced the special treatment of color 256 three weeks ago: (...) (24 years ago, 7-Jul-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Speaking of colors...

I noticed that the m6596a.dat file which comes with the new version of L3Lab uses color 256 (black + black) for the tires. These apparently display in L3Lab with a black edge color. In addition, Lars' renderings of this model on his L3P page appear (...) (24 years ago, 7-Jul-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: New Parts Category: Cockpit

parts which I think should go into cockpit: 30299 6058 2337 2483 2620 30372 30384 4474 6084 6085 2507 and mabie 30037 551 2418 2443 2598 basicly I see the cockpit catogory as a place for those parts that are used as cockpits/canopies/etc (because I (...)   Re: New Parts Category: Cockpit

(...) Hello, This is a very good idea, I'm for it. On the web page referenced above, Here's how I see it, Parts that should go into the 'cockpit' aka canopy? group. 4597, 2336, 6084, 2507 octagonal "canopy" type pieces 2408 - Panel 10 x 6 x 11 2409 (...)   New Parts Category: Cockpit

This is for everyone who considers themselves to be an L-CAD'er. Two of the parts submitted for the next parts update are particularly hard to categorize. These are the large cockpit base from the Rock Raiders, and the windscreen base from Aquazone. (...) (24 years ago, 6-Jul-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Whats the color # for "silver"

(...) Maybe, but LDraw renderers typically aren't sophisticated enough to render a chromed surface, so the only possible differences are in the color. If you take away the shiny/reflective nature of the chromed parts, I think the color would be very (...) (24 years ago, 6-Jul-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

[somewhat of Topic] Connecting an Arm to a Gear

I would like to ask you guys, for your setup for connecting an arm (or whatever is similar to a robot arm) into a 24 tooth Gear. I'm searching especially for the smaller/sturdiest setup. Just have to take into account that the Gear is attached to an (...) (24 years ago, 5-Jul-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Whats the color # for "silver"

(...) Right now (IIRC), L2P and L3P convert both 503 and 383 to chrome silver. I've used both color codes in my DAT files... (...) But since the colors look the same in LDraw/LEdit, this might cause some confusion. (...) I haven't seen the new (...) (24 years ago, 5-Jul-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Whats the color # for "silver"

(...) Good question. This should have a different color code than the chrome silver (which is 383). 503 looks the same as 383, because it's dithered from the same colors (white and light gray). But with a different color code, it would be easy for (...) (24 years ago, 5-Jul-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Whats the color # for "silver"

(...) Do you mean the LDraw colour? I think you'll find that answer to that in the LDraw FAQ. (URL) (24 years ago, 5-Jul-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Whats the color # for "silver"

  Re: The parts tracker

(...) Tore Eriksson has set up a temporary parts tracker, linked to from www.ldraw.org. We are considering having one written for ldraw.org and hosted there, so it is being taken care of.   Re: The parts tracker

I am very much interested in a parts and set tracker being set up again. I did a serch for free web space with CGI at the search engine Google. (URL) thing you can find some good resources in this list. -Chuck (24 years ago, 3-Jul-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)
