However, if there could be a standard for texture mapping patterns & stickers
(and parts made by mixing multiple colors of plastic), that would solve this
dilemma -- simple patterns could be modeled with color codes, and advanced
patterns could be modeled with texture maps. But Im just dreaming there...

So, to expand a little on my earlier comments -- I think it would be reasonable, for now, to allow dithered colors1 in pattern/sticker parts and disallow RGB codes, with the thought that work would go forward on defining a texture mapping (...) (15 years ago, 9-Feb-10, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, FTX)
