  Question about generating curves

What is an optional line? These seem to be used for modeling curves, but I don't have a clue how to use them. While I'm asking, what is a BFC statement? Um... and why does MLCAD use a German-localized cancel button for the BFC statement dialog? -- (...) (24 years ago, 10-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

New Part: 3437peye.dat: Duplo Brick 2 x 2 with Eyes Pattern on Two Sides  [DAT]

Here is a Duplo 2x2 with eyes on both sides. It's a fairly common piece, and I thought it would be a great first printed piece for me to do from scratch. I don't know why I thought this was a good piece to start with. This was a major pain, what (...) (24 years ago, 10-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: New Part: 3001_d.dat - Duplo Brick 2 x 4

(...) True. But the internal supports are also a very visible feature if you look underneath- much more so than the flattened edges in my opinion. And we seem to be agreeing that these aren't important. These and the top depression also add a (...) (24 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Soccer Ball - plain DAT code

(...) Do you mean like a mesh? Not really. (...) You make the decoration by drawing all the hex's. In this case especially. Steve (24 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Soccer Ball - plain DAT code

(...) Thanks, Steve. I'll play around with it and see what happens. Also, just wondering, but is there any way to model a net in MLCad? One last thing: I have not looked at your file yet, but what i did was i put the Primitve 4-8SPHE.DAT into my (...) (24 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Soccer Ball - plain DAT code  [DAT]

Here's the soccer ball, with the GDL converted to standard LDraw. No LDL or MPD. I also just realized that there are no conditional lines between the facets. Oops. They shouldn't be too hard to add, but I'd start with the LDL code I posted a little (...) (24 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Soccer Ball - working code

And because of the LDLite code, LUGNET doesn't recognize that the post contains an LDraw file. C'est la vie. I was planning on posting plain DAT code as well. That'll be up next. Steve (...) (24 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Soccer Ball - working code

Here is an MPD with LDLite code for a soccer ball. The LDLite language extensions allowed me to generate and use the exact values for the vertices more easily than raw LDraw code. Because of the language, I *think* only LDLite (and probably LDGLite) (...) (24 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: New Part: 3001_d.dat - Duplo Brick 2 x 4

(...) I like the flattened sides simply because they are a visible feature of the bricks. But then I would also have tackled the little depression on the top center, too. There is the fact that this particular detail varies from brick to brick. The (...) (24 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: New Part: 3001_d.dat - Duplo Brick 2 x 4

(...) After looking a little closer at other parts (and some contact with Tore), I have become convinced that the interior details are probably more than we need to model anyway. The only important interior structures are: Center stud Side ribs (the (...) (24 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Sort of, but there's another potential primitive lurking about, that is even more useful, to provide good modeling. This is a (...) (24 years ago, 8-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

x476.dat, "Bar 12L with Hollow Studs, Towball, and Slit (aka Sailboard Mast)"  [DAT]

This piece is used for the Cutter in 6277, "Imperial Trading Post", as well as in other sets. This was the most accurate descriptive name I could think of. :-/ Please LMKWYT.   Re: Torus primitive discussion. was( Updated Primitive - 1-8t0102 1/8 torus)

(...) Because I was thinking that each section covered 90-degrees of the major circle. Otherwise, they'd be named 16t*0301.dat, since each is 1/16 of a complete torus. OK, now that someone else has confirmed that this part was introduced with the Sting Rays ("(URL) of the Aquazone theme, I'd suggest that you rename the description as follows: "Tile 1 x 2 - StingRay Control Panel (needs work)" As far as the pattern (...) (...) [shrug] I don't know, either. How about posting an enlarged image of this part to BrickShelf, and then posting a message to ".space" with the URL of this image, asking the space-guys for a positive identification? That's what I'd do. Franklin (24 years ago, 7-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)
