True. But the internal supports are also a very visible feature if you look
underneath- much more so than the flattened edges in my opinion. And we
seem to be agreeing that these aren't important. These and the top
depression also add a significant amount of complexity to each brick. This
makes parts files much larger and also much more time-consuming to develop.
It shouldn't take that much work for the common pieces. I'd rather spend
the extra time doing printed parts or train parts. Compare to System parts-
I have yet to see a mold mark on a modeled piece, whether on the end or on a
stud. Likewise the 2x4 doesn't have the actual piece's internal structure.

I did- it looks good. But I thought that since the tube's curve is already
modeled down to 16 sides, the flattened areas were very subtle.
Anyway, you can always use your own modified version of the primitive if you
want this to show on your own renderings, as this can be done independent of
the actual part.
