i found out leocad also exports OBJ so bryce can load even huge ones fine. one problem it sets brightness/conest (sp?) WAY up so its badly washed out. im not sure if it is leocad's bad export or bryce's bad import so i need a bit of help (...) (24 years ago, 27-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad)

3ds looks great in bryce, but theres a problem, any reasonable sized legos ( ie: my large spaceship model ) it crashes on load. i tested it with single 1x1 brick, and it showed very accrutely. could the 3ds converter be more smart and make it (...) (24 years ago, 27-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad)

In case anyone out there uses Rhino and want to model parts here's the rough specs: 20 Rhino units = 1 Lego width (i.e. the width of a 1x1 block) 24 Rhino units = 1 Lego height 12 Rhino units = 1 stud diameter 4 Rhino units = 1 stud hieght (24 years ago, 27-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

I highly recommend Fredrik's LDraw-Mode. It will take you a little while to find the Emacs stuff and install it, plus some time to figure out how to bend stuff. (...) You may want to spring for some more RAM. I recommend at least 256, especially if you're going to be raytracing. If Rhino can only produce stl data in the positive quadrant, stl2dat can change the origin in the dat file with the -o x y z option. The most tricky point (...) The edge lines I put in for Ldraw's and MLcad's sake; they make it easier to see the important features of the cat's face, plus the edge along the bottom I think is important to preserve. (...) Sounds like this is not the part number. Many parts have numbers of the form "n nn" or "n-nn" which probably refer to indivudual sites within the injection mould. For bendable axles and electric wires you could use my bend thingie creator. The axles are the best but the wires aren't that great. I think the stumbing stone is features like the POV command difference. See earlier discussions. In POV, you can first make a solid object and then drill a hole in it. I threw up a page with some quick pics of my building/storage area. ore importantly are the details of my customized labelling system and the tools I have laid out on paper for the desktop. What's the easiest way to form bendilble object in the DAT format? I found a utility for hose part 754 but nothing for tubes, hoses in various Technis sets, flexible axles, etc...
