Re: automated rendering??? (was "Re: New White Tiger Mecha")

(...) Well, sure... It's called ONYX's L3P Add On. Now that I have figured out what makes it crash, It's wonderful. One trick is that you will pretty much always have to manually adjust the floor groundplane in the POV file if the model is at all (...) (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: Minimalist LDraw on floppy?

(...) There is already a part-version comment in the L-CAD part files. It's the line in the header which says "Official LCad update". This line will have a release number on the end, such as "99-06". If a file has no "Official LCad update" line, the (...) (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.cad)

Re: L3Lab - yet another LDraw viewer

(...) I feel we're at the point where we need a testbed application, to see the specification in action. Most of the important primitives are wound properly (that is, no bow-tie quads) or are close to it. Ditto for the basic bricks. These files just (...) (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.cad)

help!!! - light sources in POV-RAY

Hi! I need some help with POV-RAY, L3P, (etc.). I'm trying to ray-trace this DAT file ("(URL) with a change in the lighting. I want there to be a "glow" (a light?) from within the "gem" atop the staff (i.e., the 1x1 Cone), and light from the (...) (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.cad.ray)

(...) Maybe not, but the red/green display is cool. I look forward to support for BFC meta-commands. Steve (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.cad)

(...) code (...) not (...) on (...) it (...) You might be able to fit it all on one floppy with a different compression program. And remember, ldraw.exe is not just parts files. As for pulling DAT files straight out of the archives, it's just a (...) (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: LDGLITE- Solaris Version

(...) Yes, the linux executable is for x86 with (I believe) glibc 1.1. Do you have access to a compiler? It shouldn't be too much trouble to compile, although you also have to get Mesa or real OpenGl. I believe you can get a prebuilt Mesa binary for (...) (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Datsville contribution

There is another approach. While I was experimenting on LDraw animations, I had another LDraw directory in which I have removed all lines ending with stu*.dat. Thus I has a much faster rendering for preview purposes. Now, I'm not suggesting that we (...) (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.ray)

  LDGLITE- Solaris Version

Is a version of LDGLITE available for use on Sun Workstations The Linux executable didn't work ( Suspect its ix86 rather than SPARC!) Alex (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  stl2dat conversion tool beta 4

  Technic Large Pulley 3736.dat

I have modelised the Technic Large Pulley part# 3736. It is not completely finished, I have to re-orient it so it has the same orientation than the Technic medium pulley It can be download here (URL) and a subpart (URL) have modelised it with (...)   Re: LDAO: recursive inlining?

Karim: (...) Wouldn't it be more practical to build a MPD file? My MPD Builder includes all DAT files necessary to the model (if they are located in the same directory) in the MPD file. But I need somebody with a DOS or MS-Windows machine to compile (...) (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Minimalist LDraw on floppy?

Jeremy: (...) No problem. The easy solution would be to unpack the whole parts distribution somewhere on ldraw.org. I think there is even conditional downloading built into the HTTP protocol. Something slightly more advanced would be to create (...) (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.cad)

Bram: (...) I think POV-Ray has an option for eliminating everything placed a certain distance behind the camera. That would probably be beneficial for "minifig views", but I don't know what to do about overhead shots. Play well, Jacob ---...--- -- (...) (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: Minimalist LDraw on floppy?

For the Mac version of ldglite, I was thinking of building in the unarchive code (unarj) because of arj' obscurity in the Mac world, and then I thought, why not just have it get parts as needed from the arj? ldraw.exe is 988k, complete.exe is 1800k (...) (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Another request to LDlite programmers...

(...) Well, I can also do this using LDAO & LDlite, and just as manually. The reason I'm asking someone to modify the LDLite code is because I want an automated way to do this, and it seems that LDLite is 75% there already. Automated, because I've (...) (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Minimalist LDraw on floppy?

I think this is a great idea. I was thinking about a similar thing, where MLCad would load full updates from the internet, and install it onto the machine. However searching unknown parts on the internet is a very good idea too, but would require (...) (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Another request to LDlite programmers...

You could use MLCad for this feature. The program supports so called RotationSteps which rotate the model and stop drawing (or generate a picture). To make a rotating model, you have to append several rotation steps at the end of the dat file and (...) (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.cad)
