Hello all. After looking through a lot of the mecha pages, I decided I want to build some also. What I need to know though is what are some good sets to get that have a lot of the standard 'mecha' pieces. I only have about $120 so I can't go out and (...) How about modeling the armour and placing a minifig head on it? That way, you won't have to build around the minifig. That's the way I build all my big, evil positronic invaders from Alpha Centauri... Added bonus: shooting them to bits N' pieces (...) (24 years ago, 18-Aug-00, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space)

First rendering... Yeah right; looks like you're a pro with POV-Ray! Damn, I can't even render a nice sky... At first I saw your model and thought, hmmm... doesn't look very interesting. Because I'm a tease, I took another couple of pictures of the Goblin (as it's currently known.) This time it's outfitted with plenty of weapons. I've been building like crazy for BrikWars. Well, I've been playing with MLCad and POV-Ray (and a bunch o' other utilities). So I've got a ray-trace that I like. I don't know about building the Coleopteran just the way it looks, but perhaps you could just capture its feel (or philosophically: essence)! "Oh now! (...) Yes, the arms are built on pins, so the weapons are really modular. I've built these in a bunch of different mission configs with different weapons. Well thanks Jeremiah, but your 4 legged SpiderTank is way cooler than all my multi-legged mecha! ;-) And who cares about the Tyco piece; if I have it, I would use it! ;-) And I really, really like the colour sceme of the ZOOT Suit; it's cool! Not only will it not show up when seen from the side (as is occasionally the case), but Saran Wrap (or any plastic wrap for those against using brand names :) is DESIGNED to stick to things... (...) Silicon tape should work well. You can findn it in the plumbing section of a hardware store. It is a white tape (no sticky) about 3/8" wide. It is very stretchy and will conform very tightly to any shape. It's used on the threads of pipe for (...) (24 years ago, 17-Aug-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

(...) I saw your suggestion about the cling wrap before and I used it on my own mecha to make the friction pins fit tighter in place. It works great! What's the best way to tighten up technic friction pin joints used for mecha? I have an old-style technic pin (a little tighter than the newer ones with the rectangular cutouts) holding the shoulders and hips of my new mech together. The shoulders (...) I built the Marauder, as you've probably heard, and did my best to 'colorize' it in a grey/dark grey color scheme..... and then used it at the BrikWar event. I made a Fuchikoma thats about technic figure scale although the figure can't fit in it-- its kind of like the large Gakken (...) Sure it's mecha... Wow! I love the way you did the joints, very creative! I also like the upper body, and the front chin mounted laser cannons, great job! Questions: Did you build it in real life? Here's a sneak preview of my very first mecha. It's currently named Green Goblin, but we'll see if that name sticks. I don't particularly think he looks like a goblin. I think Mark is referring to mecha that is anthropomorphically female, not mecha that is piloted by a female. The Queadlunn-Rau armor, while designated as female armor, doesn't look female or make you think of the female form. But I'm a Macross (...) (24 years ago, 15-Aug-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Whoa...nice.... This is supposed to be like the Zaku from 8th MS Team, right? How come you did not make Zaku's gun like they had em in most of the series? The gun that I am talking about is the one that goes underarm and has the magazine in a (...) (24 years ago, 13-Aug-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

WOW! WOW! WOW! I can get my eyes off of those pictures; that thing is just so, so cool! Wicked left shoulder, and the chest, and the head, and the knee joint... AWESOME!!! Thanks Mark! The cockpit entry isn't anything special, I don't know why you guys seem to like it so much. It just disappoints me that I work so hard to make my mecha seem original and use pieces in a new way... And people still just say things like (...) (24 years ago, 13-Aug-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)
