Bravo, Mike! {:^D
You beat me to the punch-- I had intended to build an 8 wide version of Lar's
Hopper as well! It looks great! Don't you think the proportions look a lot
better? I especially like the way an 8 wide is wider than its trucks-- which is
the way it's supposed to be. My only suggestions would be to forsake the
eurotrash buffers and use the 2x3 rounded end plate with a hole element for your
couplers, and to space your wheels apart at least 1 stud (I have found for my 8
wide box cars that the proper spacing proportionally speaking is 2). As you
can attest, holding such a model in one's hand is niiiice-- heavy, like a Model
Team set-- very seductive;-)
I look forward to your Warbonnet. I am in the process of building a Soo GP-9,
and a Milwaukee Road Atlantic 4-4-2 to pull my Hiawatha cars. Also on the
docket is a 1500 Switcher and some other odds and ends.
Welcome to the "Dark Side [1]"
-John
[1] In reality, the correct side;-)
