  It's Time AFOL Take Action!

Originally this message was about some LEGO train cars. It is time AFOL (`Adult Fans Of LEGO' for the new readers) take action that prompts a change in the business practices of The Lego Group (TLG). This message started out as a posting about some (...) (25 years ago, 30-Sep-99, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general, lugnet.robotics, lugnet.space, lugnet.technic, lugnet.trains)

Re: It's Time AFOL Take Action!

(...) What you are proposing sounds sort of like the Dear Lego newsgroup. It just needs to be used more frequently by a lot more of us. I'm not aware of any hard evidence that TLG reads (or reacts to) Dear Lego, but it couldn't hurt to vent politely (...) (25 years ago, 30-Sep-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: It's Time AFOL Take Action!

(...) This would fit really easily within a simple (non-monolithic text file) database. Are there any plans to do so? Cheers, - jsproat (25 years ago, 30-Sep-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: It's Time AFOL Take Action!

Most of the demographic info that Ian suggests we collect is part of the roll call form. I'd suggest people post or update their forms rather than reposting this info... Here's a searchable entry point: (URL) Larry Pieniazek larryp@novera.com (URL) (...) (25 years ago, 30-Sep-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: It's Time AFOL Take Action!

I believe that you can add (even via mail) a "Followup-To: lugnet.general" to your message headers and it would do what you wanted. (...) I would like to point out that I think what we all want isn't adult legos, but rather sets that don't insult (...) (25 years ago, 30-Sep-99, to lugnet.general)

(...) Via e-mail, simply use the Reply-To mapping... That is, If you're posting via a newsreader, then set your headers like this: Newsgroups: lugnet.foo,lugnet.ba...ugnet.gonk Followup-To: lugnet.gonk and if you're posting via e-mail, then set your (...)   Re: It's Time AFOL Take Action!

The problem is that this isn't automated. Changes to your form take a long time. I'd love a Lugnet login that would let me change the info in a db at any time. Then Todd could set up logins for TLG personnel that would let them search on custom (...) (25 years ago, 1-Oct-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: It's Time AFOL Take Action!

(...) Thank you very much Peter. I hope we see some results. I would dearly love to see The LEGO Groups' CEO or U.S. Operations Chief Officer address all or many of the issues that have been raised by dozens of Lugnet & RTL members. It would be very (...)   Re: It's Time AFOL Take Action!

(...) Speaking of which, December's Playboy magazine has a bit in the "toys for the guys this christmas" section about Mindstorms. It's quite obvious that there are moments of adult advertising regarding Lego. However, this was a Playboy article and (...) (25 years ago, 2-Nov-99, to lugnet.general)

(...) I agree with this totally. I think we should get off or butts and do this. I also suggest we call and complain to "costumer service" too. If they get about 30-50 calls about this for a while they will most likely reverse there direction and (...) (...) <snipped a lot of (in my opinion) blather> I disagree. The LEGO Group is a very large company that has the intertia of a supertanker.   Re: It's Time AFOL Take Action!

Re: It's Time AFOL Take Action!

Wow! It's a brilliant summary. It's not just the adults who appreciate the 'good old sets'. For example, I have recently aquired a 3225 train which bucks the trend towards ever more futuristic train models from TLG. The set appealed to me and was (...) (24 years ago, 8-Jan-00, to lugnet.space)

Why SW isn't Jr-ized? (was Re: It's Time AFOL Take Action!)
