and you thought I'd lost my mind when I built a turkey... —Adrian Drake
How about a fully automated Mindstorms controlled minifig scale Freefall amusement park ride? Sound like fun? (URL) called The Gravity Well, and it's my first technic MOC since November 2001. It seems I'd been focusing a little too much on .space (...) (21 years ago, 15-Apr-03, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.technic) !!

Re: and you thought I'd lost my mind when I built a turkey... —Eric Sophie
Oh Man! The action! The different functions! :P The breakdown descriptions really help to convey the functionality of this great masterpiece. Really good subject matter to allow the RCX to show all the cool stuff it can do. (ha, and all the cool (...) (21 years ago, 15-Apr-03, to lugnet.technic)

Re: and you thought I'd lost my mind when I built a turkey... —Adrian Drake
(...) Heh, thanks. Not bad either, considering I programmed everything with the built in software, without using NQC or any of that other stuff. (...) Of course this'll come along. I'm starting to learn how to build things such that they can (...) (21 years ago, 15-Apr-03, to lugnet.technic)

(...) Oops, I forgot to crosspost to .robotics. There might be some interest there. Adrian -- (URL) (21 years ago, 15-Apr-03, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics)

Re: and you thought I'd lost my mind when I built a turkey... —Gregory Muri
WOW! That is great! This is a fantastic use of Mindstorms capability. I absolutely love your selection of minifigs! The guy on the front right is the best! LMAO Although I have enjoyed all your MOCS very much, I think this is now my favorite. Greg (...) (21 years ago, 15-Apr-03, to lugnet.technic)

Re: and you thought I'd lost my mind when I built a turkey... —Adrian Drake
(...) Yeah, it seems to use quite the cross section of sensors. I'm glad I didn't need any more inputs or outputs, because I already have 6 of each, and I'd be doomed if I needed another one. I don't think I'd want to put a third RCX in this :) (...) (21 years ago, 15-Apr-03, to lugnet.technic)

Re: and you thought I'd lost my mind when I built a turkey... —Andrew Saada
(...) school won't allow me to do so. This this looks AMAZING!!! I think it's incredible (not literally) that you were able to work this out and have it function so realistically. That tire tread at the bottom is a really nifty idea, as well as the (...) (21 years ago, 15-Apr-03, to lugnet.technic)

Re: and you thought I'd lost my mind when I built a turkey... —Adrian Drake
(...) I have the same problem at work. I don't have Quicktime installed here so I can't view my own movies, and since I don't have admin access on this workstation, I can't install Quicktime :/ It's not exactly realistic, as the prototypical Freefal (...)          Re: and you thought I'd lost my mind when I built a turkey... —Adrian Drake
(...) Hehe, no mirrors necessary here. Brickshelf is running nice and fast these days :) Thanks for the kind words (and the offer) Adrian -- (URL) (21 years ago, 16-Apr-03, to lugnet.technic)

Re: and you thought I'd lost my mind when I built a turkey... —Thomas Avery
(...) Very cool. It's quite a change of pace from the usual crane MOC and bi-ped walker (not that there's anything wrong with those :-) Nicely done! Will this be coming to Brickfest with you? I hope so. I'd love to see it in action up close. -TJ (21 years ago, 16-Apr-03, to lugnet.technic)

Re: and you thought I'd lost my mind when I built a turkey... —Adrian Drake
(...) Hey, Technic is as subject to fads as any other theme :) (...) Absolutely. Seeing the movies is definitely helpful, but there's nothing like seeing this in person. Finding homes for everything to get all my stuff to brickfest will be a (...) (21 years ago, 16-Apr-03, to lugnet.technic)

Re: and you thought I'd lost my mind when I built a turkey... —Adrian Drake
(...) Thanks much. (...) Nah, somebody's already done that. I like to try and do projects that no one's done before. Besides, I'd need a whole lot more 4.5/12 volt track for that :) Adrian -- (URL) (21 years ago, 17-Apr-03, to lugnet.technic)

Re: and you thought I'd lost my mind when I built a turkey... —Jason J. Railton
(...) Brickish Association displays. While I think, your Fright Knights ride - I've done a few models with concentric drives. I started with the differential gear casing, then my windmill uses a technic turntable, but one of the smallest is in use (...) (21 years ago, 16-Apr-03, to lugnet.technic)

Re: and you thought I'd lost my mind when I built a turkey... —Adrian Drake
(...) As is shown by what I've done in Technic, I love amusement park rides too :) (...) The Fright Knight Flight was made back before I had any technic turntables. I think that if I'd make something like that now, I'd be much more successful with (...) (21 years ago, 17-Apr-03, to lugnet.technic)

Re: and you thought I'd lost my mind when I built a turkey... —Tobbe Arnesson
(...) I like! This MOC have a rich array of neat functions and details but the one that strikes me the most is the short pause before the drop - now if that won't get the adrenaline pumping what will? I like the selection of faces, I noticed them (...) (21 years ago, 16-Apr-03, to lugnet.technic)

Re: and you thought I'd lost my mind when I built a turkey... —Øyvind Steinnes
I love this! Nice colors, funny faces of the riders and a good mix of Technic parts and "normal" parts. Maybe I have to get out my realy old LEGO train tracks and build a rollercoaster track? Not that I have been on a lot of amusment parks, we dont (...) (21 years ago, 16-Apr-03, to lugnet.technic)

Re: and you thought I'd lost my mind when I built a turkey... —Adrian Drake
(...) Thanks. (...) The good folks at the PNLTC have made a coaster already: (URL) sure there's much more that can be done from their design if you're ambitious enough. Good luck! Adrian -- (URL) (...) (21 years ago, 17-Apr-03, to lugnet.technic)

Re: and you thought I'd lost my mind when I built a turkey... —Adrian Drake
(...) It's good to venture in here every once in a while :) (...) Good to hear! (...) Exactly. The anticipation is half the fun. (...)          Re: and you thought I'd lost my mind when I built a turkey... —Adrian Drake
(...) It can't run nonstop (the program isn't designed for that), but I've run it for 6 or 7 consecutive loops without failure. Before I redesigned the car, what would tend to happen is the roof would come off when the car dropped from horizontal to (...) (21 years ago, 17-Apr-03, to lugnet.technic)

(...) out, and it's got some nice little details. If only there were a way to take a tiny little camera on board.... :) -jrl (21 years ago, 17-Apr-03, to lugnet.technic)

Re: and you thought I'd lost my mind when I built a turkey... —Adrian Drake
(...) Heh. There's actually some space on the underside of the car where I could fit a microcamera if one was supplied to me. I don't think I'll be hunting one down, though :) Thanks Adrian -- (URL) (21 years ago, 18-Apr-03, to lugnet.technic)

Re: and you thought I'd lost my mind when I built a turkey... —Jason J. Railton
(...) Don't knock it 'til you've tried it! For the Brickish Association display at LLW, I built an old BBC-style Outside Broadcast Unit with a minifig cameraman on a cherry-picker hoist. That had a camera built into the back of the van, looking out (...) (21 years ago, 19-Apr-03, to lugnet.technic)
