Yes, let's bring it back!!!  It was one of the original reasons I began
surfing LUGNET.  I agree with most of Bruce's suggestions (below) with
embellishments noted.

In lugnet.admin.suggestions, Bruce Hietbrink writes:
I'd definitely love to see the CLSotW come back.  A few thoughts:

1.  I agree that every other week might be better just from workload and
quality of nominated sites angles.

2.  Cool Site could alternate with Cool MOC, to get a chance to honor those
really cool MOCs out there that don't have a great site around them (or that
appear only on Brickshelf).

This is a great idea.  Perhaps CLSotW could go to monthly, or every third or
fourth week, and Cool MOC would be in the weeks between.  This would
overcome, firstly, the "finite number of Lego fan sites" problem mentioned
already in this thread, and secondly, the point you make below, that there
are _zillions_ of cool MOCs by some people.

3.  Cool MOC would have some problems, though.  If everything was eligible,
there is such a huge backlog of amazing models that we could go for weeks
and weeks on just Eric Harshberger's sculptures alone.  There would have to
be some criterion that MOCs would only be eligible for consideration for a
specified time after they were first posted to the web.

The Cool MOC could be categorized into genres, but not too fragmented (this
would be VERY subjective to organize).  I'd suggest something along the
lines of the TLC marketing lines, like Sculpture, Town, Space, Castle, ...
that gets cumbersome pretty quickly, doesn't it?

Or maybe have the top 3 Cool MOC's of the week?

4.  There's got to be some mechanism for limiting votes to prevent ballot
box stuffing.  For instance, in polls on From Bricks to Bothans, a poll that
I've voted in from a particular IP address doesn't let me vote again from
that address (granted, I could run around my universty campus and vote from
every available computer lab, but that would be too encumbersome to be
useful).  Alternatively, we could have to use our Lugnet ID and password to
vote, though that would limit the voting to members.

Limiting the voting to members would work best to prevent ballot box
stuffing. Could there be a "voting only" Lugnet membership, that would be
free? How would Lugnet prevent someone from signing up for multiple
memberships so they could vote more than once?  That'd be pretty sad, IMHO,
paying extra to stuff the ballot box.

Bruce

I had some other thoughts, but they're gone now...  Such is the mind of
someone about to be downsized.  I am still willing to devote some
time/energy in this effort, as CLSotW was one of my favorite places on the
Internet until it fell into disrepair.
