Gentlemen, I'm with you all on this one. Kevin put it all in perspective saying
"how can one volunteer if there's no response when one tries?". Twice now I've
asked for a pair of curatorships (.build.mecha and .org.us.lugola) in an attempt
to help keep the newsgroups that I care about informed and organized. Twice now
I've recieved no response. Do I still want to be a curator? Yep. Do I have hopes
that I'll be responded to someday? Yep. Do I think it will happen before I've
been a member of Lugnet for more than two years? Nope. Responses seem to take
more time than the Lugnet admins have at this point.
I understand the need to proceed with caution regarding the curatorship program,
but the slow pace of rolling out the curator program is maddening for most of
us. I responded to 'the call' within a day of the curatorship program starting,
but this apparently wasn't quick enough given how the curatorships have expanded
at this time. There are only two curators that I'm aware of and numerous others
who've asked to become a curator both before and after I did. Volunteers are a
good thing, but when responses are seemingly ignored, help goes elsewhere.
I hope this is resolved shortly.
