Well, that sort of happens now.  I have posted identical messages to rtl
and the relevant lugnet group on sevferal occasions, because I wanted
the greater exposure.  Of course, it created two totally separate
threads.

I see hosting rtl on lugnet mitigating that effect somewhat.  Obviously,
the only people who could cross-post would be those who are registered
with lugnet.  Thus, any responses made to lugnet threads would get
cross-posted back to rtl, and responses made to rtl threads would be
cross-posted only if the poster were registered, but it would show up on
rtl regardless.  It's not a perfect solution, as only rtl would carry
'complete' threads if they are cross-posted, but it would mitigate the
fragmentation somewhat and would encourage lugnet registration (next
step: world domination! :)

Would you carry non-registrants' messages on the hosted version of rtl?
If not I don't think it's worth doing, frankly.  I think it's possible
to do so and keep the integrity of lugnet intact, though.

/ _ _ / _ _  I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

(...) Interesting -- I see it the other way. Larry's statement reminds me of one of the disadvantages of carrying RTL here: a likely increase in fragmented replies from people cross-posting thread-starting-points and half of the replies showing up (...)
