  Clarification of rules please

Why is it OK to discuss things seen at trade-only toy fairs: (URL) not OK to disclose and discuss the contents of trade-only catalogues? Huw (25 years ago, 10-Feb-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Clarification of rules please

(...) In which direction? :-) I agree consistency is good. But are you arguing for removal of these posts, or loosening of the rules, or neither, just prompting a discussion of how best to move in the consistency direction? ++Lar (25 years ago, 10-Feb-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Clarification of rules please

(...) Do these trade-only toy fairs allow press of any sort in? If so, then clearly disclosing stuff seen there is ok, so long as there is no contract violation (if you had to sign something to get into the fair, or to see the "secret" stuff at one (...)   Re: Clarification of rules please

(...) Good point. The photographs look like it was OK to take them. (...) Any company printing dealer's catalogs should also expect them to enter the public domain sooner rather than later? Scott A (25 years ago, 10-Feb-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Clarification of rules please

  Re: Clarification of rules please

(...) Certainly not, no[1]. The phrase "public domain" means "not copyrighted." --Todd [1] Well, maybe after 100 years or something like that. (25 years ago, 10-Feb-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Clarification of rules please

(...) Well, certainly not "public domain" as Todd pointed out. Yes, they will eventually become public knowledge, but only through misuse by a dealer. TLC should probably put a statement at the front of the catalog indicating that it is NOT to be (...) (25 years ago, 10-Feb-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Clarification of rules please

(...) Why not? Toy fairs are all about publicity. The only reason toy companies participate in them is to get their product out. I doubt the author of From Bricks to Bothans was there as anything BUT the author of a website about toys (well, and a (...) (25 years ago, 10-Feb-00, to lugnet.admin.general)
