Well, the idea is to keep them independent as much as possible. If in
some paranoid fantasy scenario, yours got corrupted during transmission
in an undetectable way, my taking copies of those would not help.
Better that I took an independent copy. If in some paranoid fantasy
scenario you take a meteor strike prior to my copying them from you,
there is nothing for me to take copies of.
However we're several 9's past the decimal point here (in 99.9999...% of
the cases, this paranoid fantasy is NOT going to happen and everything
will be fine)
