  Re: Clone brand quality

(...) The infamous Chinese "Bricks" company has made several knock-offs of LEGO sets, and have lost several legal cases, but they also make their own legal military sets, with excellent designs and pretty high quality bricks, matching the MB quality (...)   Shifty, Coko found in Canada

I found Shifty and Coko sets at a dollar store here in Canada: (URL) wonder if TLC would be interested in knowing this, since the sets are such blatant rip-offs. I have read that there isn't much TLC can do about copyright violations occurring in (...) (22 years ago, 10-Jul-02, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, lugnet.loc.ca, lugnet.dear-lego)

  Shifty set

Hi! In a local shop I noticed a Shifty set, a copy of Lego 1761: (URL) bought it, just to see what it was, and found: The box is a copy, with the right colours, and the error on the box - there are by some reason two models of this one.   Re: Brick Century Military

(...) From what Ben's Bricks wrote about the cost of custom molds, a Chinese contact seems to be the easier and cheaper route. Isn't Oxford the new Shifty? I don't think the bricks aren't protected by copyright. Didn't the Hong Kong court rule that? (...) (20 years ago, 8-Dec-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

I can't find any other current Shifty auctions, so maybe Ebay is on the lookout for the ersatz brand. (...) It (...) (20 years ago, 13-Oct-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, lugnet.general)

  Shifty Brand Hits North America

I was out checking the lego situation in Metrotown, when I decided to look at the Dollar Store. I noticed some model cars in the front and wanted to see them. (...) The Coko sets that I own are of near-LEGO-quality ABS and, along with Tyco, probably rate among the "best" of the clone brands. Recently there's been speculation that the current Coko sets might be similar to the awful Shifty brand knockoffs (...) (22 years ago, 6-Sep-02, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: Shifty Brand Hits North America

I've seen these knock-off sets at various times in Ontario. They turned up a couple of years ago at Home hardware, but disappeared almost as quickly as they appeared. I picked up an assortment at a dollar store in guelph last spring as well. As (...) (22 years ago, 2-Feb-03, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, lugnet.loc.ca.bc.van)
