For those too lazy to click, heres the text:
Classic Grey LEGO bricks on sale again
In very early April 2005 the LEGO Group will re-launch the classic system greys.
The reason for the re-launch is a petition from a significant group of Lego
consumers, which the LEGO Group plans to use as unpaid PR agents at the same
time enabling the LEGO Group to sell a new consignment via LEGO Shop At Home and
the companys Brand Retail stores. We are pleased at the level of demand and
also happy that we can once again offer consumers bricks in these classic
colours.
The idea for the new bluish greyish ship originally emerged because the LEGO
Group had found itself with a supply of bluish grey granulate after a shipping
mixup involving the Ritvik Group in early April 2001. The extra material was
thus put to good use. The Company had no plans to produce more of the old greys
at a later date, and LEGO wrote at the time of the launch that the change was
due to input from focus groups.
We apologise to consumers that this information is now admitted incorrect. The
satisfaction of its consumers is of paramount importance to the LEGO Group. The
re-launch affords even more consumers the opportunity to buy the classic
colours. But we fully understand if some of those who purchased the sets
containing the new blueish greys in the last few months now feel that they were
betrayed. And if we receive any complaint from such a consumer, we shall offer
to buy the blueish grey bricks back.
The company has made certain minor modifications to the grey and dark grey
bricks for the re-launch in April, distinguishing them from the original bricks.
The new bricks carry the word Shifty on each stud, the height of each brick
has been adjusted, and tolerances have been relaxed to a greater or lesser
extent for certain parts.
A few obvious questions and answers:
Have you not cheated consumers was it not dishonest marketing?
We acted in good faith. When we launched the new colours last year, we had no
plans to manufacture the classic colours at a later date because we enjoy
upsetting adult consumers and relish reading their hilarious complaints out
aloud in funny accents. In retrospect, we very much regret the information given
by LEGO in 2004. And if any consumer complains, we shall offer to buy the
offending bricks back from him or her.
Why have you suddenly changed your mind?
A number adult consumers petitioned us to produce a large number of bricks in
the classic colours, which they use for primarily for building creations
depicting modern weaponry at the same time making it possible for us to sell a
new consignment via LEGO Shop At Home and the companys Brand Retail stores. We
have chosen to accept this opportunity because it is satisfying for our team to
change our minds again and because we would like to betray those consumers who
have bought the new greys in large numbers.
Are the restored colours identical to the ones you sold since 1843 or
whatever? The actual colours will be the same as those we have produced since
the before most of our consumers were born. But the bricks are slightly
different. They will show the wording Shifty on each stud, the height of
bricks have been adjusted, and there are some changes to tolerances which allow
us to mould bricks using recycled egg cartons.
Will you also be restoring classic brown?
No.
Please?
Sorry, no.
But the new brown looks nothing like real trees trunks!
Oh, ok. Classic brown is will also be available from very early April.
