  Re: Old Lego colors

(...) My early 70s of Lego were that red, white & blue were common, whereas black & yellow were rare, and other colors unheard of, except for green trees and baseplates. I think I had a few grey bricks of some kind, but they did not become at all (...) (25 years ago, 13-May-99, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Rock Raiders out

(...) I found the same three sets at my local TRU. Unfortunately you are correct about 4970 Chrome Crusher. The set seems to be far too juniorized. The main base of the vehicle is a large plate that has bricks with side pegs for the four wheels (...) (25 years ago, 13-May-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Yellow Low Sloped Corner Bricks?

(...) I think it's called "gabled" because it is an otherwise normal 1x2 roof piece with a gabled overhang on one side, ie a vertical triangle like a gabled roof. So that name refers to the appearance of the piece not it's actual function which is (...) (25 years ago, 4-Jun-99, to lugnet.build)

(...) This isn't the piece I was referring to... the one you just described is the one Gary said Rob F calls a "gable connector"... which is another misnomer, I think, since it connects rof peaks, not gables (which are at the outer end of a piece of (...)   Re: Sith Infiltrator

(...) I think everyone realizes the scale and detail limitations of LEGO. A lot of accurate details would make for sets that contain a lot of special pieces that have limited use and increase price, vide infra. If a Millenium Falcon were done on (...)   First (tiny) batch of parts from 6097 on JABA

Better late than never, hunh? Well, I spent so much time getting EveryAuction installed on my own Linux server that I put off putting more items up on JABA, but before I collapsed I did manage to put just a few up, and judging from recent and past (...)   Re: Linking between FAQ items (Was: [LDraw FAQ] Who wrote LDraw?)

  Old Lego colors

Gary's question about the red stripe reminded me of something. Take a look at those pics of the old sets: note the preponderance of red and white, and then yellow. My memories of my childhood lego in the 60's/early 70's are that the blue bricks we (...) (25 years ago, 13-May-99, to lugnet.general)

Is it too late for a new comer?

Like so many others, Mindstorms brought me out of my dark age, and soon my interest has grown beyond Technic. Recently I bought a set of Metro Liner from ebay. Frankly when I learned that I won the bid my feeling was mixed, for the set was pricey (...) (25 years ago, 10-May-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Architectural Wonders theme

(...) I guess if you were copying a famous building exactly, you could run into problems getting the proportions and detailing correct. And in that sense, a scale larger than minifig may be needed. Kevin Wilson (...) At the risk of sounding negative, these didn't work as well as I'd hoped.
