  Re: Did anyone else notice...?

(...) Besides what others have said, the Belville castle wall piece is a rounded half-circle. It looks like new piece in castle 2000 is half-octagonal. (...) Don't they? Great detail for most any kind of building. Steve (25 years ago, 10-Nov-99, to lugnet.castle)

I do have a few. :) A not-so brief commentary on the Meccano vs. Erector Question Well, I figured that I'd better get some more facts, so I called my dad tonight. :) He somewhat disagreed (...)   architecture and the new castle sets

It seems like most people don't like the new half-octagon tower wall pieces. Well, I like them, so I guess I'll be buying them from some of you :) I also like the new tan(?) lion's head sculpted elements. They'll be great for adding some detail to (...)   Re: New Mecha, The Rf-79 Tiger

(...) I particularly like the shoulder shaping, though it's missing an important DOF (degree of freedom). The sheathing of an internal skeleton adds an interesting new dimension to models, makes the building process more realistic and adds to the (...) (23 years ago, 26-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Does 5808 The Fairy Castle, qualify as castle

(...) well it might depend on what sort of castle your are building, but if it was a chateau style as opposed to a middle ages grey, defensive fortress style, then I could see using some of the elements like the pillars, the green base for a formal (...) (...) That's a nice little gondola. It looks like those parts come from the Scala set 3110 Four Animal Friends (which comes with one of them and costs USD 7.00 from S@H). No if only there would be a matching wall section so that one could make a (...) (25 years ago, 8-Nov-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: building a maze

It sounds like you want a maze that you can build on any given floor, such that the floor itself forms the floor of the maze and all you actually supply is the walls. I would suggest buying some 2x4s (as we call them in the U.S.) -- the type of wood (...) (25 years ago, 9-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics)

My thoughts on the new Castle line

General Comments (mostly negative): 1. The Maiden appears to come only in the largest set (6091) - arghh! 2. Visored helmets are back!! 3. Why did they do the tower peaks in blue again - I'd kill for those in red!! 4. Stained glass decal - there is (...) (25 years ago, 10-Nov-99, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: building a maze

(...) My university competes in a maze robot competition, and the maze construction they use seems pretty decent. Start with a flat piece of wood of whatever size you need, with holes drilled on a grid. The holes should snugly accept dowels, each (...) (25 years ago, 9-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Hapless WinNT user

That's me, trying to use legOS 0.2.2 on WinNT with CygWin. I'm using the same tools that worked for me for legOS 0.1.7. Make complains when it tries to build dll, specifically when it tries to compile loader.c. I get a bunch of redefined symbols and (...) (25 years ago, 8-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

I know one thing I'm buying a lot of!!! The elevated road plates #6600.That set is pretty neat by itself. Not much of a selection for town this year is there? (...) If you mean the tower elements from 5808 (which is Scala, not Belville) shown here: (URL) then no, they aren't. The Scala piece is much larger - something like 6x6x12 (probably wrong - I haven't actually measured it), whereas the new castle (...) (25 years ago, 9-Nov-99, to lugnet.castle)

  More castle 2000 set comments

OK, with all the posts nitpicking the new sets, I though I'd add my .02 cents (making it like $3 laying around now... :) ). 6095: Cool looking training dummy.
